Cinema is the most American art form - a product of the economic, social, and technological perfect storm that occurred in this country in the early 20th century. For decades, we built art deco shrines to this art form in nearly every city, town, and village which Americans attended almost as much as they attended church. One of the Queensmen brothers is compiling a film library, a succinct and distinguished collection of the best and most important films ever made - films that reveal a truth about the human experience and display it for its audience to grasp. The minor in Cinema Production includes courses in cinema history, cinematic core principles, media production, and other cinematic arts and narrative arts courses. This minor is a great complement to other degrees in the cinematic and narrative arts. #InAllWeDo #DawgsUp

I contributed a chapter to this book about George Lucas, which is now available. It's an overview of various elements of his life and business. My chapter, "George Lucas in Museums," is about the creation of the Lucasfilm Archives, and how exhibits connect with the fandom, reinforce his creative vision, and expand the transmedia universe of Star Wars.

"A dream is a wish your heart makes..." This line is from a song in the 1950 Cinderella animated classic and it applies to both coins dropping this week. One depicted event may be fiction and the other real-world, but both have had huge real world consequences. How many of you have been to Cinderella's castle in the Disney theme parks? Or the Kennedy Space Center in Florida? Both of those real-world places exist because someone had a dream that they turned into a reality. Millions (if not tens or hundreds of millions) of people have had experiences with these very real places, films, broadcasts, etc. because dreams were followed up by real-world action. This is going to be increasingly important for 2K resolution films of the 2010s in a 4k era. Digital resolutions cannot be remastered in the same way as film masters. Upscaling does not provide more detailed pixels.
