Today on 𝟏𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, I have completed 10 years with Barclays. The time I have spent in the bank has been an incredible transformative journey, full of learning at each stage. When I joined the bank in 2014, I had little to no clue about what I was going to do except that I aimed to learn as much as possible. I see these milestones as stages of progression – 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟏: 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭! ➡️ I took my first leap by conducting team huddles on behalf of my Team Lead, followed by watching BBC News daily. It helped me gain confidence in a secure environment. ➡️ I interacted with my customers as if I was the best advisor in the bank and delivered great customer experiences. Undoubtedly it garnered recognition. I topped the site in NPS in 2015. This is where I had my first breakthrough. I got a chance to share my experience of being a Customer Care Champion in front of senior stakeholders and CEO Mark Hammerstein 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟐: 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 – 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧  ➡️ When I changed roles to an Academy Coach, I went ahead with the mindset of transforming the way people coach. It got me the opportunity to lead a project on a new way of training and learning. ➡️ With a humorous nickname “Walking Encyclopaedia”, I trained and coached around c250-300 new joiners, empowering them with vital knowledge and essential skills to deliver great experience to our customers At this stage, I believe to have achieved my second goal. It was time to aim higher! 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟑: 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐮𝐩 𝐚 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐡? 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭! ➡️ I wanted to understand the Management aspect of the bank and what’s better than being a Team Manager in Operations. This role brought a whole new level of challenges but rewarding at the same time. I learned everything I know about People Management in this role ➡️ I went onto manage teams in various different areas which exposed me to new business goals, new people, new ways of management – this role broadened my horizons. This was the right time to leverage my knowledge and expertise in a different area of the business and create a positive impact. 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟒: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭! ➡️ I was exposed to a myriad of knowledge along with new terminologies, new ways of working, new stakeholders, new challenges. This role unlocked my true potential and I cannot be more grateful for it ➡️ I realized my dream of Cybersecurity and took time out specifically to read and learning everything, I possibly can, about and related to Cybersecurity. Little did I know that this was starting of something big [not big role or company or money]. Big mindset shifts and bigger goals! Celebrating 7 amazing years of Growth, Learning, and Success NatWest Group January month marks a significant milestone in my professional journey as I complete 7 incredible years with #natwest Group (erstwhile Royal Bank of Scotland) From day one, I've been part of a dynamic #purpose driven team that values #innovation , #collaboration , and with a #growthmindset . Recognizing and appreciating our collective successes has been a cornerstone of our journey at NatWest. I’m coming up to nearly 3 months into my current role & haven’t done a reflection post for a while (gives you an idea of how busy I’ve been!). Having gained huge experience with all things Blue/Risk within Barclays since starting this role, the key takeaways that I have on reflection from progress so far are: - always be on the front foot with everything that you do - being organised with your proactivity can make a huge difference in making quality progress & at speed With the 2 above points, of course there are always outside factors that you can’t control. However, you can control & achieve a lot more than you realise. I have found these 2 aspects as golden rules to help me progress forwards with my work in a relatively short period of time.
