🍕 Recently, kids in our Wedgwood Transitional Living Program had a blast at a pizza-making night, whipping up some unique and delicious combinations! Thanks to our dedicated ACH volunteers who joined in to foster friendships and make memories. Our Transitional Living Program provides a safe, nurturing home for youth ages 14-17 who can't live with their families or in a community setting. Through home-based therapy and supportive environments, we empower our youth with essential independent living skills so they be reunited with their family, placed with a foster family, or transition to independent living. Curious about making a difference? Consider becoming a volunteer! Together, we can create brighter futures for our youth. Did you know that over 407,000 youth are currently in the foster care system across the United States? Here in Georgia, the need for support is especially critical. These young individuals face unique challenges that require our immediate attention and action. 📊 Key Facts and Statistics: Increased Risk: Youth in foster care are at a higher risk for adverse life outcomes, including educational challenges and mental health issues. They are seven times more likely to suffer from depression and five times more likely to experience anxiety compared to their non-foster peers. · Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs): Over 50% of foster youth have dealt with four or more ACEs, which can lead to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance abuse later in life. · Educational Challenges: Foster youth are more likely to struggle with absenteeism and have special education needs, making it harder for them to achieve academic success. · Support Systems: Programs that focus on leadership, life skills, and relationship building are crucial. However, these programs need your support to continue making a difference. 🤝 How You Can Help: Volunteer: Your time and skills can make a significant impact on a child's life. Consider becoming a mentor or volunteering at local programs. Donate: Financial contributions are essential to fund the necessary programs and services that support foster youth. Advocate: Use your voice to raise awareness about the needs of foster youth and advocate for policies that provide better support and resources. By getting involved, you can help foster youth in Georgia overcome these challenges and achieve their full potential. Let's create a brighter future for these young individuals together! 🔗Join us in making a difference: www.camphorizon.net #FosterCare #Georgia #YouthSupport #Volunteer #Donate #Advocate #MakeADifference

So exciting to see implementation of these services coming to fruition.
Today TN Governor’s Faith-Based and Community Initiative Executive Director Lance Villio challenged attendees of The Send to do what is possible: to rally around foster children, youth, and families. A soon-to-be-launched campaign called Every Child TN will bring together state government, service providers, houses of worship, businesses, and thousands of volunteers. Foster care is a complex challenge, multi-faceted with no simple solution. To support and care for our most vulnerable children and youth we will need every one of the 11,500 houses of worship to help in an array of ways — from wrap-around to respite care to being foster families. We cannot wait to get started. #tennessee #fostercare #faith #children #thesend

This 3 part series is worthy of your time. It highlights the multi-system inadequacies that lead to children services offices being the only shelter for the most vulnerable children. I appreciate the exposure of this problem from the child, parent, and professional perspectives. https://lnkd.in/gizCfahM

Preventing removals is always the main focus, however when that cannot happen and children are sheltered, then Reunification becomes the main focus! #supportparentsinreunification #alwaysreunification #camelotcommunitycareseminolecounty #enhanceprotectivefactors #familiesfirst
June is National Reunification Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the people and efforts across the country that help families stay together. This month honors those who have overcome significant challenges to provide safe and loving homes for their children, allowing them to reunify as a family. As a team dedicated to the well-being of children and families, we understand that foster care aims to offer temporary care for children and adolescents, ensuring their safety and meeting their needs until they can return to their birth parents or other family members. Through our collaborative efforts, we work towards achieving the goal of reunification! Loss of housing or housing instability is a major stressor for families. In these circumstances, young children may experience a variety of challenges related to health, nutrition, learning, and development. Director Khari M. Garvin’s Home at Head Start video series highlights the many ways our programs are equipped to support young children and families experiencing housing loss or instability. In this short video, Director Garvin shares how family service professionals can initiate caring conversations about McKinney-Vento eligibility. He also provides practical examples of how small language changes can make a big difference. The tools featured in this resource are helpful for all staff to support a welcoming environment. As the Jefferson County Head Start Policy Council Chairperson, I am committed to adopting these inclusive terms. I recognize that my language can unintentionally harm others, and I choose to make a difference by listening to those affected and changing my words accordingly. Inclusion isn’t hard; making someone feel like they belong is worth it! #HeadStart #HomeAtHeadStart #HealthEquity #HousingStability #InclusiveLanguage #CommunitySupport #EarlyChildhoodEducation #McKinneyVento #ChildDevelopment #FamilySupport #InclusionMatters https://acf.mobi/3QNG43t
