Comments of a CatMan now Consultant I can see clearly now (Jimmy Cliff)... is one of those really cool songs that makes you feel good. For me, it means having clarity and the ability to push forward for yourself and with your team. This course is one of several collaborations that I am working on right now that help suppliers see clearly. Understanding that the ""old ways won't work anymore". What words come to mind when you think about the category review process and a CPT? Confusion? Frustration? I'd love to know in the comments. - Do you need to understand FSNI and their new processes? - Do you want to successfully navigate the category review process? - Would you like to understand the CPT? - Do you want to create a commercial proposal with the knowledge that you haven't just given away the farm? What will you get from me in this partnership with Kelly Smith ? I will share: - an understanding of what a category manager role entails. - how to build a stronger business partnership - as much clarity as I can share about the category review process. - how to navigate the CPT - things to consider when creating your commercial proposal. "Oh yes I can make it now, the pain has gone. It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sunshiny day!" Enrol for our May course. You won't regret it! During the period 2001 to 2005, I gave several strategy presentations on De Beers Group to business schools and other interested groupings. The first one, of 2001 (https://lnkd.in/dukvP7cU ) talked about the separation of management and operational ties with Anglo American. The last one in 2005 (https://lnkd.in/d5743Ytn ) looked at the transition from a listed to a private company. The presentations in-between (all available on my SlideShare site: https://lnkd.in/dpePWU2h ) look at how the strategy unfolds. Perhaps, useful lessons seeing De Beers maybe looking at a change in corporate structure? My mother always said to me "learn the lessons of history". This maxim should hold true here. #diamonds #strategy

Contract disputes between suppliers and wholesalers are no fun for either side; trust me, I've been there. They are not productive, are a source of stress, and cost a fortune in legal fees to litigate. In the recent legal case between Anderson Valley Brewing Company (AVBC) and Harbor Distributing, we saw a significant ruling that underscores a crucial point for our industry: the need for strong, balanced contracts between craft breweries and distributors. For craft breweries, protecting against unfavorable distribution relationships is essential. Yet, it's equally important to recognize that wholesalers need protections to justify their investment in your brand. This case highlights a critical truth: contracts are not just a formality to quickly sign and move past; they are the bedrock of strong, productive relationships built on trust. Craft breweries must ensure their distribution agreements provide necessary safeguards against the potential for a distributor who brand collects and lets the brand die off, while also offering wholesalers the security they need to protect their investment and grow your brand. Clear, balanced contracts can prevent disputes and foster a collaborative environment where both parties thrive. Any relationship is healthiest and most productive when both parties feel empowered, secure, and trusted. If you're trying to one-up your partner right out of the gate, it sets a bad tone for the future of the relationship. These contracts should be beneficial and protective to both sides. The AVBC case serves as a reminder of the potential pitfalls in distribution relationships and the importance of strong and effective contracts. If you're not operating with strong and secure contracts, you're putting your brand's future at risk in the market. Unsure of what your distribution contracts should look like and how strong they currently are? Feel free to reach out! We have the best distribution contract lawyers in the business on our team who have proven time and again that they are worth their weight in gold. There's nothing more vital to your brand's future success than well-done contracts. #CraftBeer #Distribution #BusinessSuccess #ContractManagement #BeverageIndustry #BrandStrategy #LegalInsights #SupplierRelationships #FiveStarStrategy #FiveStarBeverage
