Living next to a music festival like Glastonbury is a unique experience. You get the energy of world-class music right on your doorstep, but it can also come with a price – noise pollution. This year, residents of Pilton are raising their voices again about the increasing noise levels during the festival. This isn't just about a good night's sleep (although that's important too!). Noise pollution can have serious health consequences like hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and even increased stress. That's where noise monitoring comes in. Noise monitoring isn't just about ticking a box. It's about ensuring everyone enjoys the festival – the performers, the attendees, and yes, even the residents. read the article here: https://lnkd.in/dxKgje4w Acoem is dedicated to helping people enjoy quieter, more comfortable spaces. We know how much noise and vibration impact our daily lives, so we focus on solutions that make a real difference. Well, the 68th #UKCoachRally and #nationalcoachweek 2024 are both over. Our thanks in all directions to all CPT members who came to participate and to our #BCH partner ABTOT Limited. But we can't miss the chance here to stress that for CPT's coaching members, every week is coach week. One high profile illustration of this is how, in just over a month, nearly 20K festival goers will enjoy convenient and affordable travel to #Glastonbury Festival by coach (20% more reaching the summer’s biggest music festival travel this way than they did last year). Official coach travel partner of the festival, National Express LTD has added 34 more departures this year to meet demand, taking the total number of locations served to 109. Tickets include a generous luggage allowance of 20kg in the hold, plus one piece of soft hand luggage. National Express also sets up a pop-up coach station within 100 metres of the festival gates, so revellers haven’t got far to go with their festival gear to secure the best spots to pitch-up. Alongside regional coach services, there will also be a fleet of double decker electric buses on a high-frequency shuttle #bus service between #Bristol Bus Station and Worthy Farm. As we've said here many times, coach is good for the environment as the least carbon-intensive public transport option. So it's encouraging to learn that John Boughton, commercial director at National Express can say, “Demand for affordable and reliable public transport has never been greater, and that includes travel to the summer’s hottest festivals and events." Festivals might bring unforgettable experiences, but they are also leaving behind a decades-old waste problem that keeps growing. Dr. Teresa Moore, Director of A Greener Future , sheds light on this issue in her latest opinion piece, pointing out that festival waste isn’t just a “young audience” problem—it’s an all-ages issue with roots stretching back to the earliest music events. In contrast to events like Act 1.5—where Massive Attack collaborated with the Tyndall Centre to create one of the most climate-conscious festivals yet—major events like Boardmaster, Reading and Creamfields remain mired in waste despite various initiatives. Speaking with us, Dr. Moore explains, “Tent waste is created by all age groups at festivals. For some events, waste has become an ingrained, decades-long part of the culture, and older festival goers have been part of this culture for a long time.” Dr. Moore calls for a shift towards behavioural science and research-backed approaches to break the “waste loop” at festivals, emphasising a consistent, proactive stance on waste management over time. So, what do you think? Can festivals truly break free of this cycle, or is it part of the culture for good? 🌍 📹 : Newsflare

Extreme weather related cancellations in the music festival and touring industry are increasing in frequency, which will certainly be impactful for contingency planning and insurer capacity available. In Las Vegas we've seen large scale cancelations several times in recent years due to adverse weather. Lovers & Friends was to take place on a 37 acre open air venue space...the question is how can we mitigate the risks associated with AI powered tech? While weather monitoring analytics are already being implemented at most major outdoor festivals, we'll need to begin to think and plan differently to avoid scenarios such as these for not just the outdoor live event / festival industry but also for contingency insurers to also remain profitable and viable options for event promoters. While primarily focusing on the vital human safety aspect of protecting festival attendees, artists, crew, and vendors...protection from property damage to equipment, staging, temporary structures can easily escalate to millions of dollars. I am banking on AI insurtech solutions to emerge to the forefront for the solutions needed "Several Las Vegas festivals have been called off due to weather in recent years. As noted by the city’s Review-Journal, in October 2022, the first day of the When We Were Young festival was canceled because of high winds, although it picked up the next day. In May 2019, strong winds shut down the main stage during the Electric Daisy Carnival at Las Vegas Motor Speedway; the same thing happened in 2012. Also in 2022, the Day N Vegas festival, which had been moved to September from its usual time earlier in the year due to the pandemic, was canceled due to high temperatures." My Journey at the BIR MUSIC FESTIVAL : A Tapestry of Achievements and Emotions When I look back at my time with the Bir Music Festival, a wave of pride, joy, and nostalgia washes over me. The festival has been a journey, a blend of hard work, creativity, and unforgettable moments. This season was a whirlwind of activity. Balancing artist and stage management, all creative work, and sponsorship management was intense, but it was also incredibly rewarding. The festival's growth and the positive feedback from participants were testaments to the team's hard work and dedication. It felt like everything was coming together, and the festival was evolving into something bigger and better. #ANewChapter As I embark on Season XI, the excitement is palpable. Can concerts and festivals truly achieve zero-waste? Join us online October 15 @10am PT in "The Green Room" for a discussion with innovators leading the way, moderated by Joel Makower. RSVP - https://lu.ma/po4ha5wv Panelists include: Crystal Dreisbach Upstream, Jonah Geschwind Green Disco , Mary McCarthy Levy Restaurants, Meghan Tierney AEG The mountains of trash produced at concerts and festivals have long been a sore spot for the industry. Whose responsibility is it to make the changes needed? Solutions are out there and becoming increasingly cost-competitive, creating new opportunities for artists, venues, and promoters to reduce or eliminate waste while engaging and educating fans. Making these changes isn’t easy, and can require new vendors, contractual arrangements and training of both staff and fans. #musicindustry #sustainability #greenmusicindustry #circulareconomy #waste #refuse #reduce #reuse #recycle
