🚀 Mars One Mars One, a Dutch private company founded in 2011, captured the world's imagination with its ambitious plan to send people on a one-way ticket to the red planet. The allure of being the first startup to achieve this feat garnered significant attention, with extensive media coverage and a pool of eager candidates vying for the opportunity. In the world of investments, the allure of a great story can sometimes overshadow the underlying value. Mars One's captivating narrative led to significant financial backing, but the lack of concrete scientific preparation ultimately led to its downfall. Despite the hype and enthusiasm, Mars One's bankruptcy in 2019 highlighted the importance of balancing storytelling with substance. While the venture sparked global fascination, it also left behind disappointed backers and a cautionary tale about the pitfalls of prioritizing narrative over feasibility. As we navigate the intersection of innovation and investment, let's remember that while good stories sell well, sustainable success requires a foundation of real value and strategic growth. The moment we start comparing ourselves to other people JOY starts walking out the door.  You can let people motivate you. You can let people inspire you. You can even let people impress you. Don’t let people steal your JOY by comparing their page 220 to your page 15.  When we compare ourselves against someone else, we forget our own exceptional abilities.  Imagine comparing a cheetah and a falcon.    When people compare a cheetah to a falcon, they often focus on their respective strengths: the cheetah's incredible speed and agility versus the falcon's unmatched aerial prowess. The cheetah, known as the fastest land animal, can reach speeds of up to 60-70 miles per hour (96-112 kilometers per hour) in short bursts. On the other hand, the falcon is renowned for its exceptional flying abilities and are masters of the sky. If a falcon compared his ability to run fast to a cheetahs speed.  He would forget that he is the master of the sky. 

This world is built like Jenga blocks. After years of civilization all you need is to pull one block to bring it all down to the ground. What should we be proud of? The fact that we can dream of setting up a tea shop in distant Mars (btw Gopi chettan has already got a licence to set up the first tea shop in plot #XTY34526 in Mars) or the fact that we have managed to build a colossal interconnected complex dump yard that when someone pisses on one side it starts smelling on the other.

Today, I was privileged to share a case study of a local Brevard County healthcare company that lost $800,000 during a bold and crafty Business Email Compromise attack. We walked through the timeline and details of the attack, then talked about valuable insights at Promise in Brevard during The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce August luncheon on safeguarding our organizations against Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks. BEC attacks are a significant cyber threat where criminals gain access to business email accounts to defraud companies and their stakeholders. Here are the key takeaways from my session: Technical Measures: Implement multi-factor authentication (the best bang for your buck!), email filtering, regular monitoring of email accounts, and restricted web access. Employee Training: Conduct regular security awareness training, simulated phishing, and incident response training. Policy Implementation: Establish strict verification protocols, limit information sharing, segregate duties, and have an incident response plan. Additional Measures: Protect your domain, use DMARC, DKIM, and SPF, and conduct regular audits. By integrating these strategies, you can significantly reduce the risk of BEC attacks and protect your organization's financial and reputational integrity. Thank you all for attending my keynote!
