We’re proud to share these high-resolution captures of the Port of Laem Chabang, Thailand, taken March 12, 2025. 🛰️ Launched earlier this year, Pelican-2 is part of our next-gen high-res tasking fleet, which will support and expand  our SkySat capacity. Pelican-2 is designed to reduce downlink latency, provide 50 cm class resolution imagery, and is equipped with the NVIDIA Jetson platform for AI-enabled on-board compute – making it the latest and greatest addition to the Planet constellation. Curious about what we've already found? - Asia continues to lead the solar landscape, holding 61% of the worldwide solar installed land area. - Meanwhile, Oceania has experienced the most growth, expanding at a rate of 7x, far exceeding the global average of nearly 3x. - Onshore wind turbines have more than doubled over the years, reaching 375K by the end of 2024-Q2. - More than half of Europe’s wind turbines are concentrated in five countries—Germany, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, and Italy. Planet’s new Aircraft Detection Analytic Feed automates near-daily detection of aircraft by leveraging an AI model trained on our PlanetScope and SkySat data. 🛰️✈️ Aircraft detection from satellite data isn’t new, but monitoring all airports around the globe on a near-daily basis certainly is. 🌎 More than one hundred thousand commercial and military flights take place every day with planes transporting people and cargo to nearly fifty thousand airports across the globe. Being able to meaningfully scale aircraft detection is critical to gaining insightful data feeds, including linking the patterns of politics and economies with global air traffic. Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of meeting His Majesty King Charles III at Hampton Court during the Sustainable Markets Initiative Terra Carta event. During the event, we discussed the importance of EO, especially highlighting impactful use cases in agriculture and water management. We also gifted His Majesty with a framed satellite image of Nansledan, Cornwall -- the heart of his Duchy of Cornwall initiative, which promotes sustainable farming and land stewardship. It was an honour to represent Planet for this important conversation, while showcasing our commitment to responsible space exploration.
