**Published Report hiccup followed by CZMA NOAA Win! ** Following Tropical Storm Allison circa June 2001, I managed a team of independent adjusters. Any time an expert was engaged, I was involved in the file. This particular claim was to an elevated beachfront home. When I opened the engineer's report, I didn't make it through paragraph one before I read the words "single story, slab on grade," that made my eye twitch. Hmm elevated slab on grade... 🤔 Fast forward a bit... I called the homeowner who happened to be an engineer. Part of the assessment involved a foundation study. The homeowner pointed out a mistake by the technician in the use of the equipment. I advised that I appreciated his input. I followed up with the owner of the engineering company who took over the expert assignment. We were able to work collectively with a number of governmental entities (completely unrelated to the published report) where the owner of the engineering firm definitely won over the homeowner by helping him work through the Coastal Zone Management Act issues. The cooperation and collaboration made this especially memorable. Some of the best long term relationships come from how we respond to something that didn't go as expected.
