Today was a special day as we had the honor of sponsoring a breakfast for the amazing employees and volunteers of The Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Inc. in Pasadena, Texas. The Bridge provides shelter and safe haven for abused women and children in the community. Their missions is “to offer support, provide safety, and prevent domestic and sexual violence.” Learn more about this incredible organization and how you can support at tbotw.org
Since 2010, January has been recognized as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. This is a crucial time to raise awareness about slavery and human trafficking today, for education and prevention.
This month recognizes the efforts of governments, international organizations, anti-trafficking groups, law enforcement, advocates, businesses, faith groups, survivors, and individuals who raise awareness of this global crime.
This is an opportunity for all of us to engage in raising awareness and community activism.
Here are a few ways that you can dive deeper into this work:
1. Talk about the history of slavery and current slavery practices.
2. Get involved in outreach for fundraising to support prevention.
3. Learn how to identify and respond to incidents of trafficking.
4. Where applicable companies can also discuss efforts they are taking to prevent forced labor and slavery in their supply chain and supplier factories.
Our CULTRL CALENDAR has an incredible list of resources, indicators, organizations, and ways to support educational efforts and the families of those who are missing.

‘Rape culture is part of the reason why sexual violence is so widespread against women and girls’
It’s part of the reason women and girls are raped. Let that sink in.
Now you know this, help be part of the solution. Let’s make it really uncomfortable for anyone to do it. If you’re a leader, create an environment where it’s not acceptable, and where women feel safe coming to you to report it, and confident that you will act accordingly.
If you’re a leader, you’re either part of the solution or part of the problem. Your organisations culture comes directly from you.
At Rape Crisis England & Wales, we believe that 'rape culture' is part of the reason why sexual violence and abuse is so widespread against women and girls. That's why we work hard to challenge the systems that allow rape culture to thrive.

Founder/CEO Social Capital Builders. Recognized innovator and pioneer advancing economic mobility and impact through social capital education and social network analysis.
As I enter the new year, I commit to making my social capital count for the lives that depend on it. I would ask that you do the same. I want to address a heart-wrenching reality that cannot be ignored: the staggering rate of gun violence taking the lives of young African American males in our nation. Every single day, mothers are losing their sons. In America, 14 young men and boys fall victim to gun violence in our cities every 24 hours. Homicide tragically stands as the leading cause of death for African American males aged 10 to 24. This statistic isn't just a number – it's a stark representation of lost potential, dreams unfulfilled, and families irreparably broken. The disparity in homicide rates is startling and speaks volumes about the systemic issues we face. While the homicide rate for African American males aged 10-24 is an alarming 60.7 per 100,000, for their white counterparts, it's 3.5 per 100,000. This isn't just an issue of public health or crime – it's a matter of social justice, equity, and humanity. As a father, uncle, and grandfather to young African American males, I must be involved. Our approach through Social Capital is not just a strategy; it's a necessity. We understand that facing this challenge cannot be a solitary fight. It requires a collective, united effort where communities, organizations, and individuals come together. By leveraging our networks, resources, and influence, we can create impactful interventions and provide support where needed most. Alive and Free! Chief Operations Officer/Deputy Director, Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services
"Meanwhile, David Muhammad, the deputy director for Milwaukee County’s Department of Health and Human Services, said 284 children have enrolled the county’s Credible Messenger Program, which provides mentorship and other services to at-risk youth.
Early results from the program have been promising. This year, the county also debuted a similar program aimed at girls. Next year, it will roll out another initiative targeting people between ages 14 and 24 to provide mentorship, life-skills training and travel opportunities.
“The investment in community is really what we’re trying to demonstrate,” Muhammad said.

🙌 Raising Awareness for Prevention🙌
📢 Raising awareness is a crucial step in preventing human trafficking! 🛑 At TWG, we’re committed to helping our partners in educating communities and empowering individuals to recognize and combat this heinous crime. Through impactful campaigns and ongoing public workshops, our partners aim to shed light on the signs of trafficking and the methods traffickers use.
Our efforts don't stop there. We also support our partners in leveraging social media, community events, and educational materials to reach a broader audience. By spreading awareness, we can mobilize communities, encourage vigilance, and foster environments where trafficking is less likely to occur. Let's unite in this mission and ensure everyone knows how to identify and report suspicious activities. Together, we can make a significant difference in the fight against human trafficking! 🌍💪

You read that right.
12 million is an unimaginable number. But these aren’t merely numbers. These are children with dreams. Children who deserve safety.
Help us prove that a safer world is possible. IJM has seen it's possible. So far, IJM has helped bring 95,000 children, women and men to safety from slavery and violence.
Until all are free, until all have access to justice, we won’t stop. Until then, we need your support.

It's heartening to see such a vital event shedding light on domestic and family violence. We must unite to support all affected individuals and strive for a safer community for everyone.
While it's undeniable that women are often victims, we must also recognise the significant number of male victims who are overlooked. The prevailing system, while aiming to protect women, unintentionally neglects the safety and well-being of male victims. This bias not only fails to provide adequate support but also exacerbates their trauma. Legal frameworks and societal attitudes must evolve to ensure gender-neutral support systems, prioritising the safety and rights of all individuals, regardless of gender. Failing to address this disparity perpetuates injustice and undermines the principles of equality and justice.
I dream of a society where everyone is liberated from the shackles of inhumanity and embraced with dignity, compassion, and equality. #StandTogether#EndDomesticViolence#HumanRightsForAll

Another myth BUSTED by Woodhull! 🚫💥 This #mythbustingmonday, we fact-checked the myth: Porn Harms Relationships. The real truth is porn viewing does not appear to have any consistent impact on relationships. Rather, people in unsatisfying relationships tend, naturally, to watch more porn.
Learn more about this myth and others that impact our fundamental right to sexual freedom. Then, consider donating so we can continue working to debunk these harmful myths.
Our work includes fighting censorship, eliminating discrimination based on gender or sexual identity, or family form, and protecting the right to engage in consensual sexual activity and expression. We do this through advocacy, education, and coalition building. Let’s make it our duty and commitment to spread the right information on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) because:
1. It can be prevented if we know how.
2. It can be managed if we’re adequately informed.
3. We all need to know how to provide support to rape survivors around us, helping them heal.
If you know HOW to achieve these three things, please share!
If you don’t know but want to learn, simply comment “HOW?”
Let’s work together to #EndGBV and build a safer future for all.
