Stress due to lack of sleep and lack of sleep due to stress is a loop. We often find ourselves stuck in this vicious cycle. And, I must say, that's quite frustrating. Isn't it? But what if we could detect these stresses while we snooze? How? Well, your nightly heart rate, breathing pattern, and even the duration of shut-eye could reveal stress. Researchers are now using wearable technology to do just that. These tools can help collect sleep data which can further detect the stress level. And this could pave the way for early interventions and personalized support systems. Interesting, right? This could be promising to solve the stress-sleep issue. After all, a good day starts with a good night's sleep. Agree? Chris Hogg Simon F. Andres Moran Dan Deffet Victoria Wright #Innovation #WearableTech #HealthTechInnovation #HealthcareAI #HealthTech

Smartwatches can do more than just track steps and sleep. A new study says they can also give important information about dep_ression symptoms to mental health doctors. A professor named Joshua Curtiss from Northeastern University in the US says this kind of technology is part of something called precision medicine. This means doctors can personalize treatments for each patient better. The study looked at data from patients at Massachusetts General Hospital who wore a special wristband called Empatica E3. This wristband tracked their sleep, movement, heart rate, and other things. Changes in sleep patterns, such as sleeping too much or too little, can indicate dep_ression, just like reduced physical activity and being socially isolated. All these signs can be seen using wearable technology like smartwatches and smartphones. For example, doctors can see how often patients use messaging apps to tell if they're talking to people or not. Curtiss says this data can give doctors more information they wouldn't normally have. But it's not meant to replace doctors' judgment. They still talk to patients and use their own knowledge to understand everything. If the data shows a patient isn't moving much, the doctor can talk to them about why and how they're feeling. The same goes for sleep patterns. Curtiss says it's common for patients to not tell the whole truth about how they're feeling, so this data can help fill in the gaps. #doctor #smartwatch #sleeping #data

Did you see Elemind featured in Forbes today? According to writer Alexandra Frost: "No sleep solution—whether it’s cooling pajamas, smart beds, or circadian rhythm glasses—is one-size-fits-all, and there’s still quite a bit of doubt among consumers as the wearable sleep device industry wades into the future of EEG monitoring. Still, the Elemind neurotechnology headband is an outlier for its promise not to simply track sleep data, but to actively respond in real time for faster results. The company’s clinical trials are encouraging, and the 30-day money-back guarantee means there’s little risk." At Oura, we hold ourselves to a high standard when it comes to accuracy. We’re not measuring ourselves against other consumer wearables but against gold-standard laboratory testing. Nothing can replicate a lab setting - but we believe that Oura Ring is the next best thing. In a recent study by the Centre for Sleep and Cognition at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Oura performed the best overall both for sleep and wake detection as well as sleep staging as compared to the gold-standard electroencephalogram (EEG). Accuracy matters when it comes to understanding your health; that’s why we put so much investment, time, and research into developing and validating our algorithms so that our members can trust the data they receive and use it to make real changes in their lives.
