It was a great event where shippers got to meet with their intermodal. partners and Class I rails. We received so many positive reviews from all three stakeholders (shippers, IMCs and railroads) who held productive meetings ahead of their truckload and IM RFPs for 2025. By my tally, Hub Group (Chris Hoffmeister, Phil Yeager), J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. (Spencer Frazier Tami Allensworth), and Schneider (Jim Filter, Greta Goffinet, Jack Flynn) each booked more than a dozen meetings with the shippers and railroads (Jon Gabriel BNSF Railway, Cara Costa of CSX, Shawn Tureman and Andrew Lynch of Norfolk Southern, Pat Linden and Reed Janousek of Union Pacific Railroad and Jonathan Wahbas team with CPKC).
Shippers (names that you can find on the Inland page) were super pleased that they could knock out meetings with three, four, even five of their intermodal partners in one place, one hotel over three days.
Then there was the great content. Lots of great information on where Q1 2025 truckload and intermodal rates should land with Adam Miller of Knight-Swift Transportation, Yeager, Gary Ahlstrom of STG Logistics, Savannah Flament of Matson Logistics, Robin Harter of COFC Logistics, LLC, Sheila Weatherly of Knichel Logistics, Inc., plus a really deep dive on how to get the JIT shipper to buy into intermodal with Paul Duncan, Carrie Ann Crozier, MBA, John Knight and Roquita Coleman Williams... or how I put it: Why should a JIT shipper believe in intermodal based on the track record of the last decade?
So if you go live with a TL and IM bid in Q1 or early Q2, you really should attend Inland. Next up: #Inland25 in Chicago Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.
The Journal of Commerce held their Inland Distribution Conference in Chicago this week, where industry experts convened to discuss freight flows across modes and geographies.
Ari Ashe led a panel on Domestic Intermodal featuring Roquita Coleman Williams, Carrie Ann Crozier, MBA, John Knight, and myself. A special thanks to my fellow panelists and the JOC team for hosting this insightful event, fostering industry connections and knowledge sharing.
It was great to meet and engage with fellow professionals in the field!
