No better way to explain why representation matters and the reason why blackowned organic haircare brand like Simply Go Natural Cosmetics Inc. exists. : “The FDA is proposing a ban on hair relaxers with formaldehyde due to cancer concerns, but this wouldn't have happened without the work of two Black women in congress! The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is planning to propose a ban on certain hair-straightening products, such as chemical relaxers and pressing products, reports NBC News. The reason for the ban is that certain products have been linked to health risks, according to an entry in the Unified Agenda. The attention brought to these possibly harmful hair products is because of representatives Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) and Shontel Brown (D-OH). The congresswomen wrote a letter to the FDA earlier this year, asking the agency to investigate chemical straighteners. The letter read, “We write to request the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to determine whether publicly available chemical hair straightening products contain carcinogens that lead to a higher risk of uterine cancer.” Photo by @becauseofthem Looking for healthy haircare alternatives? : Visit simplygonatural.com to discover which of Simply Go Natural Cosmetics Inc. Christina, our CEO, recently addressed an essential topic in a video that's generating quite a buzz. She explored the question that frequently arises: "Can you make me a preservative-free product?" Her response is a resounding "yes," but with a vital caveat. For a product to be preservative-free, it must be entirely devoid of water and any water-based ingredients. This is due to the risk of mold growth in products that contain water without a preservative system. Christina's video emphasizes the significance of safety in skincare and cosmetics manufacturing, ensuring that our clients are informed about the importance of preservatives when formulating their products. #productdevelopment #beauty #skincare #cleanbeauty #manufacturing #beautyindustry #femaleownedbusiness

Retinol, a derivative of vitamin A, is one of the most well-studied ingredients in skincare, but new EU regulations seem to have dulled the shine of this “gold standard” anti-aging ingredient. “The SCCS was satisfied that vitamin A in cosmetics is safe, but the committee raised a concern about this exposure, in combination with exposure from other sources (e.g., diet), possibly exceeding maximum safe levels,” Victoria Brownlie MBE, Chief Policy and Sustainability Officer at the British Beauty Council, tells BeautyMatter.
