Last week at ProcureCon US Contingent Staffing, I was honored to join as an #influencer, thanks to the wonderful ProcureCon team. Participating in such a dynamic and elite gathering was not just an honor but a deep affirmation of my place in the world of contingent workforce strategies. Reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones in person was a highlight, underscoring the vibrant community we're part of. Reflecting on my 15+year journey, moments of doubt have surfaced about my path in this industry. Yet, every interaction with the leading figures of our field reinforces my passion and conviction: This is where I belong. This is my #passion. Asked to describe the conference in a word, I initially said "brilliant." But "passion" more accurately captures the essence. Our industry thrives on hard work, camaraderie, and a mutual drive to support and elevate each other. The #panels were a source of inspiration, echoing sentiments like "Be bold," "Don't give up," and highlighting the importance of support through referrals and the excitement of innovative solutions. These insights weren't just motivational; they were actionable reflections of our industry's spirit. #Observations from the conference painted a picture of an industry at a crossroads. Despite the slow adoption of Direct Sourcing solutions, I foresee a significant shift in the coming year. Our field is full of innovation, yet the shadows of early-2000s thinking persist. Encouragingly, there's a noticeable trend towards experimentation, with industry leaders exploring new paradigms. (I highly recommend experimenting with Hire-Train-Deploy!!) These insights aren't just observations; they're a call to action. They remind us of the need to embrace bold ideas, to not shy away from change, and to continually seek ways to innovate and improve. As we move forward, let's carry these lessons with us, fostering a culture of innovation, support, and, above all, passion for what we do. Navigating Turbulence and An Evolving Human Capital Industry As seen in Hunt Scanlon Media's recently released 2024 Executive Recruiting State of the Industry Report, 2023 was a challenging year for executive recruiting, marked by a double digit downturn that has sent ripples through the industry. In the U.S. and globally, billions of dollars poured into the high-end #recruiting sector in 2023, but at a slower rate than in previous years. Hardest hit were recruiters serving the #tech stack, the #VC sector, and high growth companies. Nevertheless, Hunt Scanlon’s Top 50 generated $6 billion in fees last year.
