Investor decks should answer questions, not raise them. I review investor decks daily, and after reviewing a couple today, I identified some common issues. Here are some tips to resolve them. 🔹 Problem Framing: Use numbers that are directly connected and relevant to the solution slide. 🔹 Solution Clarity: Focus on what your product uniquely solves, highly relevant to the problem. 🔹 Customer Focus: Choose a customer and ensure you have the numbers backing market opportunity, etc. 🔹 Proof of Value: Demonstrate tangible value created, like specific time and cost savings (e.g., X days + $X USD). 🔹 Case Studies: Ensure traction with your ideal customer, proving value and reinforcing your value proposition. 🔹 Market Opportunity: Define the problem and how your solution saves cost and time, with specific figures. 🔹 TAM and Financial Projections: Connect these to tangible customer problems and solutions, backed by solid math. 🔹 Investment Ask: Clearly articulate the business outcomes you aim to achieve with the investment, specifying expected revenue within a set timeframe. A well-thought-out deck should provide clarity and confidence to both founding teams and investors. While tedious, the investment of time here pays dividends in the long run. Working on a deck? How to use your financial model in your pitch to get a second meeting with investors.

In this clip, Steven Plappert with Forecastr discusses using your financial forecast to tee up additional meetings. 📈 In an initial meeting, flash your financial projections. Keep things high-level, convey potential, then move on. 👉 You want investors to ask "Where did you get those numbers? What assumptions did you make? Is there a model to back this up?" 🔬 You're looking for that questioning. You want to convert the investor into someone interested in learning more, someone curious enough to have a second meeting to dig deeper (a product demo, a market deep dive, or a financial model walkthrough). 🙌 Be prepared to do any of those so wherever the investor leans, you can say "I'd love to dig in on that, let's set up a time." This also positions your team as one that makes data-driven decisions.
