💡 Transferable skills candidates in Fundraising 💡
In the past week, I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with two exceptional candidates who are keen to transfer into the charity sector as fundraisers. While they may not have direct fundraising experience, their transferable skills are spot on:
🤝 Building strong relationships
🖥 Pitching with confidence
🌟 Winning business
🙌 Managing stakeholders
📢 Outstanding communication skills
They also have a genuine passion for working in the sector. Despite their qualifications, they're being overlooked because their CVs don’t list prior fundraising roles. I really feel this is a missed opportunity for many charities. These candidates can bring fresh ideas, diverse perspectives, and an eagerness to learn—qualities that we really need in the sector.
When speaking with charities, I always talk about the importance of considering candidates with transferable skills. Taking a small leap of faith on someone from outside the sector could result in huge long-term rewards.
Are there any charities willing to explore the potential of out-of-sector talent? One candidate is seeking a salary of £30K, the other around £40K. If you're interested in learning more about them, feel free to reach out.
P.S. The cat in the photo is just a friendly local I met during my lunchtime walk. I keep reading that a LinkedIn post needs a photo to be seen by anyone!
