Its been 5 days since my 1st year of MBA at Emory University - Goizueta Business School ended. And ever since I came back to India for my break I have been reflecting on how the curriculum has shaped my skills and if forgoing an ISB admit for getting an MBA in the US has been worth it. I'd like to break the arguments into buckets of skills and opportunities. 💡 Skills: 1. The recruitment process of having to drive your career all by yourself with subtle guidance by the CMC can be exhausting but it builds unparalleled resilience and agility as compared to Indian MBA programs where recruitment is primarily managed by the college placement services 2. The learning curve to understanding a new culture and positioning yourself for success can be a herculean task but with the right set of mentors, extensive curiosity, diverse peers and the support of CMC, it is very doable 3. As an ambivert, chasing roles that require you to possess exceptional networking and engaging conversational skills can be intimidating but the iterative skill development through multi-event exposure changes your personality for the good in the long term 🌟 Opportunities: 1. Its only in the US where without any background in Finance, you can aspire to break into niche fields like PE or VC which is very different from the barriers to entry in the Indian job market 2. You don't necessarily need to have a 9/9/9+ or be an IITian to boost your chances of getting into the MBBs or Big4s of Consulting 3. The opportunity to work with real time clients as part of your curriculum through Emory University - Goizueta IMPACT gives you tremendous room to hone your skills and also positions you for success in summer internships Having said that, this is by no means conveying that one curriculum is better than the other. It all depends (I've been around consultants for way too long) on the skills and opportunities you are trying to explore through getting your MBA. It has been a great and fulfilling journey for me at Emory University - Goizueta Business School and I will be back to share more updates about my learnings over the Summer! Stay tuned to know more!

Are you confused about which business schools to apply to for MBA? Selecting the right business school is a tricky process! Often the schools are quite close in rankings, equally good with placement records, suitablity of location, alumni network and various other factors. Nothing matters, whatever you achieve, It's not legendary, unless your friends are there to see it. ~Barney Stinson I am excited to share a glimpse of my enriching MBA journey with all of you. The transformative and profound experience was truly enriched by the exceptional people around me. My friends, with their unwavering support, played a pivotal role in my personal and professional growth. Equally instrumental were the seniors, whose guidance and mentorship were invaluable. They generously shared their wisdom, helping me navigate the complexities of the program and inspiring me to push my boundaries. These connections not only enhanced my learning experience but also forged lasting bonds that I cherish deeply. Engaging my MBA journey from Symbiosis Centre For Management and Human Resource Development Centre For Management and Human Resource Development, coupled with an insightful summer internship at Everest Industries Limited Industries Limited, I was able to bring academic concepts to life in practical settings, This combination of experience allowed me to understand industry dynamics, and enhance my skills through projects such as Market research, Network sustainability & Customer retention. Reflecting on my 2 year experience, the blend of rigorous coursework and hands-on projects has prepared me for real-world challenges. I'm grateful for this journey and eager to apply these insights in my professional endeavours. In the whirlwind of MBA life, I discovered a knack for making friends, bonding over shared struggles from nerve-wracking orientations to caffeine fueled study sessions. From themed parties with PowerPoint presentations to "strategic planning" sessions at the local bar, every moment was ripe for camaraderie and laughter. Networking events became opportunities for mingling while discreetly checking LinkedIn profiles. Despite challenges like solving case studies after one too many cups of coffee, the journey wasn't just about earning a degree but about friendships forged over late-night pizza runs and group projects gone awry. Here's to my MBA crew, who turned every obstacle into an adventure and made the experience truly unforgettable. Thanks for watching.✌️😎🤘 #mba #business #management #mbalife #scmhrd #college #symbiosis #marketing #commerce #bschool #mbaexpierence
