I'm starting the day reflecting on our announcement yesterday that Propel Impact has joined the Spring family of impact organizations, coming alongside Spring, Spring Collective, and Spring Impact Capital. I first met what become propel when Vancouver Social Value Fund launched with Steve Petterson at the helm some nine years ago. We have partnered and Spring has benefited from their incredible talent pool of young leaders in impact over the years, including Jaiya Varshney, Natalie Youssef, Shantanu Mehta, who are now part of the Spring team, allies, partners, or community members. To scale impact, we need to bring together capital ready impact organizations with deployment ready impact capital in thoughtful, values aligned, and supportive ways. Propel and Spring train impact investors, support impact entrepreneurs, and deeply care about our communities across Canada. We also complement each other well as Propel brings much needed values aligned talent and capacity building internships + consulting teams to both founder and capital organizations. Spring brings the convening and matchmaking processes and opportunities. Gen Z VCs: Bringing together young professionals, this community is a hub for Gen Z investors to connect, learn, and share resources. It’s a great place to engage with peers early in your career. Black Women in Venture Capital: With nearly 300 Black women investment professionals, this organization fosters career development through mentorship and networking events like the annual Martha’s Vineyard retreat. It’s a vital space for Black women navigating VC. C100: Based in Canada, C100 connects Canadian founders and investors with global tech ecosystems. If you’re a Canadian looking to expand your cross-border relationships, this is the community for you. Venture Capital Unlocked: A joint program by 500 Global and Stanford Center for Professional Development, this initiative provides hands-on experience and training for aspiring VCs. It’s a structured opportunity to gain practical skills and network with top investors. Their application deadline is Aug 5, 2024 I have the privilege of currently attending the Venture Institute Cohort 3 program administered by VC Lab, but I'm sharing the Included VC fellowship program because they have the same mission to help individuals from all backgrounds break into Venture Capital.
