Reconfigurable series-parallel photovoltaic modules with high shading tolerance: TU Deflt researchers made a first attempt to validate reconfigurable solar modules using prototypes in outdoor tests. The panels consist of two or more blocks of solar cells that are connected to a switching matrix and reportedly achieve a 10.2% higher energy yield than conventional shade-resilient modules under partial shading conditions. #CommercialIndustrialPV #ModulesUpstreamManufacturing #ResidentialPV

⌚ There is still time - not much 😣 - until 30/11 to contribute to this survey on the #research and #innovation priorities for the #PV sector in coming years. The ETIP PV - The European Technology & Innovation Platform for Photovoltaics is a structuring actor in shaping the European research and innovation landscape for photovoltaic. By contributing to this survey, you will help the ETIP PV better target the future European funding programme when it comes to PV R&I, helping draft calls that better support: ⚗ the uptake of new materials on the market 🏗 accelerating the deployment of new uses of PV ⚡ enabling a PV-centric electricity grid ♻ closing the loop on the circularity of the PV value chain 👷♀️ an improved social engagement for PV that creates local value We notably need your perspective on whether the Key Performance Indicators listed in the current ETIP PV Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda are still relevant, and pointers on how you feel they should be updated. Filling in this survey would take around 10 minutes and provide precious information to shape funding programmes that are consistent with your priorities for R&I on PV, so don't hesitate! #HorizonEurope, CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, SolarPower Europe, Rutger Schlatmann, David Moser, Jutta Dr. Trube, Rania FKI, Johannes Stierstorfer, Hanna Dittmar, Thérése O Donoghue, Ivona Kafedjiska, #silicon #Perovskite, #BIPV, #VIPV, #FloatingPV, #AgriPV, #CircularPV, #SocialPV, European Solar PV Industry Alliance

Bifacial vs. Monofacial Solar Panels ☀ The ongoing debate between bifacial and monofacial solar panels is reshaping the landscape of solar technology, redefining the standards for efficiency, performance, and overall value. Let's delve into the nuances of these two technologies, shedding light on how they measure up in the quest for optimal energy production. At its core, this comparison hinges on the design divergence. While monofacial panels capture sunlight solely from the front side, bifacial panels elevate the efficiency game by harnessing energy from both the front and rear sides. The discussion orbits around this distinction, emphasizing the stark disparities between these two solar technologies. Traditional yet effective, monofacial panels excel in capturing direct sunlight from the front side, particularly during peak sunlight hours. Contrastingly, bifacial panels adopt a dual-sided strategy, tapping into reflected sunlight and ensuring a more consistent power generation throughout the day. This inherent efficiency gap emerges as a pivotal factor influencing the overall performance of a solar installation. 🔋 #SolarTech #CleanEnergy #SolarPower #EnergyEfficiency #solarpanel #RenewableEnergy

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK 🗣 “In HBC cells, connection infrastructure is placed on the rear of cells, opening up more of the front to receive sunlight, potentially improving the overall conversion efficiency of the cell. Back contact cells are likely to follow tunnel oxide passivated contact (#TOPCon) cells as the next major #innovation in #celltechnology, and LONGi Solar’s work will only accelerate this transition”, as stated in an article on pv-tech.org this month. PV Tech 🤔What implications does this hold for the #solarsector? Curious to explore the in-depth insights and revelations? #Solar #energy is what drives the future. This is what scientists are hoping for and what private investors are rooting for. To make this eco dream happen, it's crucial to develop more and more #sustainable and #efficient #technology. Dr. Ioana Pintilie and the research team she coordinates are working round the clock to designing new solar cells and photovoltaic modules. The focus is to reduce production costs, while keeping the product environmental-friendly. In order to develop cost-effective technology with a low carbon footprint, it's crucial to reduce to a minimum the pollutants during the fabrication process. Stay tuned to find out how new solar cells - like perovskite - are conceived! ----- #ResearchInTheSpotlight is a video podcast for scientists and passionate science people having as protagonists the principal investigators (PI) of the Collaborative Research Projects funded in 2018 & 2019 calls under the Romanian Research Programme - EEA and Norway Grants. This podcast is designed by the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development, and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI), as Programme Operator of the Research Programme funded under the EEA & Norway Grants. #ourstories #NorwayGrants #reserchersofNorway #sciencecommunication https://lnkd.in/dTyUDCMU

Our latest pv magazine Global test results are in! The three new TOPCon samples performed very well in their first month, resulting in a higher bifacial boost for TOPCon than heterojunction (HJT), represented only by two products. However, it is too early to say that TOPCon performs better than HJT, as we need more time and more HJT products to conclude. Meanwhile, as summer progresses and high temperatures prevail, the improved power temperature of TOPCon and HJT panels contributes to higher performance than the passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC). View the complete test results below. #SolarEnergy #TOPCon #pvmagazine #RenewableEnergy #BifacialBoost #CleanEnergy #SolarPower #SustainableTech #CleanEnergyAssociates
