As industry leaders and sustainability experts braved the rain for day one of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, it’s the perfect moment to look into fresh insights about recycling habits in the UAE, particularly between genders. Here’s what our research reveals: ♻️ Gender Dynamics in Recycling: Interestingly, women in the UAE are more likely to try and recycle than men with 41% saying they always recycle, compared to 34% of men. This highlights a notable gender disparity in sustainable practices. 🌿 Influence on Policy Making: This insight provides a crucial opportunity for policy makers and community leaders to tailor recycling initiatives that not only enhance participation rates but also address the specific needs and behaviors of different demographic groups. 📈 Engagement Opportunities: The data presents a chance for businesses and organizations to engage more effectively with their audiences by recognizing and amplifying the contributions of women in sustainability efforts. These findings emphasize the importance of understanding community-specific behaviors towards recycling and should be a driving force for UAE businesses and policymakers to not only bolster their sustainability initiatives but also communicate them effectively to cater to the nuanced needs of their communities. This is precisely why we developed the Manara Global Sustainable Impact Communication Framework, which crafts a bespoke strategic approach to sustainability communications, ensuring it resonates with the company’s values, brand, and stakeholder expectations. 📞 Interested in enhancing your strategic communications on sustainability? Let’s connect and discuss how we can help your organization communicate its green initiatives authentically and impactfully. #WFES2024 #WFES #AbuDhabi #UAE #Dubai #Sustainability #Recycling #Women

But how can you ensure your business aligns with these global priorities? Here are 6 key steps to effectively integrate the SDGs into your business strategy: 1. Identify Relevant SDGs for Your Business Not all 17 SDGs will apply to every business. Start by identifying the goals that are most relevant to your industry, operations, and stakeholders. For example, a manufacturing company may prioritize SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), while a tech company may focus on SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). 👉 Tip: Conduct a materiality assessment to map the SDGs to the areas where your business can have the greatest impact. 2. Set Measurable Targets Once you’ve identified your priority SDGs, set clear, measurable targets that align with your business goals. Whether it’s reducing carbon emissions, minimizing waste, or promoting gender equality in the workplace, having specific goals will keep your efforts focused and trackable. 3. Integrate SDGs into Your Core Business Strategy For real impact, the SDGs should be embedded into your core business strategy—not just treated as a standalone initiative. Integrate sustainability into product design, supply chain management, and even your corporate governance to create long-term value. 4. Engage Stakeholders Collaborating with your stakeholders—employees, customers, suppliers, and investors—is key to successfully implementing the SDGs. Engaging your stakeholders ensures transparency and helps build partnerships that can amplify your positive impact. 5. Leverage Innovation for Sustainable Solutions The SDGs present immense opportunities for innovation. By leveraging technology, research, and new business models, you can develop sustainable products and services that meet growing consumer demands for green solutions. 6. Monitor, Report, and Adapt Measuring progress is critical. Track your SDG performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and sustainability reporting frameworks. As the business landscape evolves, be prepared to adapt and realign your strategies to remain on course. 🌱 The Path Forward: Aligning your business with the SDGs not only contributes to global development but also unlocks new growth opportunities, improves risk management, and strengthens your brand. Are you ready to align your business with the SDGs and build a sustainable future? Advocating for sustainability for more than two decades 🟢 Sustainability Strategist, Consultant and Educator 🟢 Passionate about innovation, adaptation, climate action | Master of Sustainability ‘23
🎯 Let's talk about goals, targets and frameworks for sustainability. What's great about sustainability is that you don't have to reinvent the wheel. You can adapt frameworks and support initiatives, and it will cost little, if anything at all. 👉 Such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), a straightforward blueprint for any business to adopt. With 17 goals, 169 targets, and over 200 indicators, there is a wide range of options and numerous indicators. The UN SDGs are the world's goals and targets to achieve (or at least progress towards) by 2030. It's a simple and effective way to align work, life, and business with sustainability, and it's not as complex as it may seem. ➡ So choose one, two, or a few that resonate with your business values and vision. ➡ Merge them into your mission and promote them in your work, newsletters, email signature, website, blogs, and more. ➡ Doing this will engage your audience, help spread the word, and get more support for you and your business in supporting the goals. I've listed all 17 for you to see which goal(s) resonate: 1. No Poverty 2. Zero Hunger 3. Good Health and Well-being 4. Quality Education 5. Gender Equality 6. Clean Water and Sanitation 7. Affordable and Clean Energy 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth 9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure 10. Reduced Inequality 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities 12. Responsible Consumption and Production 13. Climate Action 14. Life Below Water 15. Life on Land 16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions 17. Partnerships for the Goals And I believe every business can support at least Goal 17 - Partnerships, which is fundamental to achieving all of them. The 19 targets include financing, inclusion, trade, technology, and science objectives. Which goals resonate most with your business? ▶ Reach out if you want to learn how to adopt sustainability in your business https://lnkd.in/g8yjnJD8 #dayanabrooke #sustainability #sustainabilitymentor
