Over half of mothers in rural areas live more than a 30-minute drive from a hospital or obstetric service facility, impacting their ability to receive care. In addition, other everyday factors such as work, health and family commitments can make in-person appointments a challenge for new and expecting mothers. Virtual health services can complement in-person visits and add to the quality of care for many new and expecting mothers, offering care options for those who face transportation limitations. #WomensHealth #MaternalCare #PatientExperience #Hereosoflife Hello my LinkedIn family Do you know we recently polled our network to understand experiences with cesarean sections ? Women are life's heroes, making sacrifices on all levels, sleeping last, and providing life. Let us never forget to honour these living heroes. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞? 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞. The poll conducted about caesarean sections and moms experiences with this surgical procedure came with this conclusion: 🔑 The majority (56%) rated their experience as very positive, indicating overall good care for cesarean sections. 🔑 Another 22% had a somewhat positive experience, also reflecting reasonably good care. 🔑 However, 11% had a very negative experience and another 11% somewhat negative, showing there is room for improvement. 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 : 📌 Focus on improving the experience for the 22% who had somewhat negative ratings. Conduct patient interviews to understand pain points and how to enhance care. 📌 For the 11% with very negative ratings, prioritize addressing their specific issues and concerns through direct follow up. Likely needed are better communication, analgesia management, emotional support etc. 📌 Train medical staff on bedside manner, empathy and active listening. A caring attitude can significantly impact the patient experience. 📌 Strengthen post-op aftercare, discharge planning and support groups. Easing the transition home helps recovery. 📌 Consider implementing a patient experience survey more widely to obtain additional feedback for continual upgrades to cesarean care standards. 📌 Advocate for policy reforms to lessen financial burdens and expand access to cesareans when medically required for women's health. Overall the survey indicates the need to focus on select areas for quality improvement while continuing the positive work. Collecting ongoing real-time patient input can help women receive the best possible outcomes and experiences. Join the discussion and share your thoughts! Together, through open dialogue, we can work to elevate maternal healthcare worldwide. Let's keep the conversation going - how can we better support expectant and new mothers? #WomensHealth is a priority.
