AMPS is excited to be holding our Leapfrog Geo Fundamentals training course on 17-18 of July! This course allows new or existing users to become familiar with geological model building tools, as well as how to control surfaces and create the most accurate boundary contacts. Outputs include meshes, volumes, planned drillholes, cross-sections and 3D scenes. Enrol here: https://hubs.li/Q02BdbxY0 #LeapFrogGeo #TrainingCourses #Geology #MiningIndustry

Is Material Balance analysis kryptonite for the modern geocellular model? https://lnkd.in/dkFtFRiA Large simulation models allow geologists to present what they believe to be happening, and they reassure decision makers when you only have a few exploration wells in one small area of a field. But just because today’s geocellular models can provide a thousand times more cells than was possible decades ago, does that mean the process is a thousand times better? And are there tried and tested methods that offer just as much, if not greater, accuracy – methods like material balance analysis? #geology #geologist #oilandgas #oilandgasindustry #consultants

Of the 4205 wells documented by the Kansas Geological Survey to penetrate Precambrian basement, 43 are described as encountering mafic intrusives or extrusives within the Precambrian. Depths of Precambrian penetration range from 9' to 1839'. 13 wells pentetrate >100' of pC section. Notably, the Texaco Poersch well, which encountered ~4000' of mafic rock, is not included as it also intersected 4000' of sedimentary pC rocks and is classified as Granite Wash. Hydraulic Conductivity k (m/s) is also known as coefficient of permeability. It is the most commonly used parameter for characterizing the hydrogeological conditions. The unit of hydraulic conductivity is m/s and its value depends on the nature of the rock mass as well as the nature of fluid. As with anything related to geology, a proper understanding of the tectonic environment and development through time is necessary. This is just as true in the search for geologic hydrogen potential. This is an image of the regional basement terranes of the midcontinent of the United States (taken from Carlson, 2001). #geology #hydrogeneconomy #hydrogenenergy #hydrogen #hydrogenproduction #hydrogenindustry #hydrogenstrategy

Rock Mass Geometry It's a bit tricky but super important in the field of Engineering Geology/Geotech. if you are scratching your head about it, then check out attached picture. The main features of rock mass geometry include spacing and frequency, orientation (dip direction/dip angle), persistence (size and shape), roughness, aperture, clustering and block size. #geology #engineeringgeology #rockmass #rockmassgeometry #exploration #scanline #borehole #windowmapping
