By telling people what they “should” or “shouldn’t” eat, health care practitioners are oversimplifying a very complex issue, says my friend and colleague, Dr. Sheila Carroll. “For all of us, in the culture that we live in, we use food in ways that food wasn't originally designed to be used. Human beings evolved very slowly over time eating food to just sustain our physical self. We didn't use food for fun, for stress relief, for coping. That is a very recent phenomenon.” How do practioners, patients and families positively collaborate on changing health behaviors? "Don't just give your audience content, inspire them" was one of the key lessons that really stuck when in my learning journey towards becoming a coach and speaker. You can have the best content and ideas in the world, but if your audience isn't inspired to apply, you've just given them "stuff". Like Dale, our specially hand picked facilitators and coaches at EQ Strategist need to meet specific criteria: 1️⃣ They need to be walking role models of the stuff they teach.
