Had an engaging conversation on Gender Lens Investing in India at IIC’s Prabhav 2024. Gender Lens should be viewed in two dimensions - one that plays out in the formal sector where women are a part of boardrooms, founders, C-Suite of companies; and second in the informal markets where women are a massive part of the economic activity. The former is an important challenge we need to work on collectively, while the latter is highly inspiring! ✅In the formal sector, building real diversity means constant questioning of historical bias to set-up women for success and unlocking their potential. ✅In the last two decades, Elevar has spent time understanding women's aspirations on the ground. A major shift has occurred, from microfinance to early indicators of women leading Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in rural India as board members and CEOs, and with significant business growth. Women also play a crucial role in household economics, are active economic participants in Entrepreneurial Households, and actively engage in economic activity - in sectors like microfinance, education, agriculture & healthcare. We must be proactive in understanding their entrepreneurial capacity and the role they play in decision-making as we deliver financial services, education, agri-services and healthcare to them. These are important conversations and I am happy to have discussed these insights with Rajat Arora from Women's World Banking , Sarita Raichura from Blume Ventures, Shalaka Joshi IFC - International Finance Corporation, Rajnish Kadambar and our moderator Ragini Pillai from British International Investment Full video here: https://lnkd.in/gxnZbpY5 #EPICopportunity #EquityforEquity #EntrepreneurialHouseholds #humancenteredcapital #ElevarMethod #ImpactInvestment #IIC #Prabhav2024

Met up with budding young politicians and social activists at Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini doing the remarkable course of Post Graduate Programme(PGP) in Leadership, Politics and Governance at Indian Institute of Democratic Leadership (IIDL). It was a wonderful interaction as I sought to introduce them to the “Art of CSR” and how they can use it to design and engineer positive social change as potential Jan pratinidhi / peoples representatives. I strongly feel CSR is a powerful tool to strengthen grassroots democracy so what better than to motivate the youth keen to join politics to understand this. With 10 years of CSR over, if over the next 10 we can get young and old politicians to fully understand this one can imagine the good that’ll happen - not only through CSR led development through collaborations at district, block and taluka levels, but also responsible development oriented politicians could be vying for votes during elections, reaching out to the electorate with promises based on their performance where CSR could have made an impact.

In a memorable essay reflecting on his decades of public service when he turned 100 years old, former US secretary of state and treasury George Shultz noted that the most important thing he had learnt in his career was the centrality of trust in any collective situation. In his words: ‘Trust is the coin of the realm.’ When trust was in the room, whatever that room was—the family room, the schoolroom, the locker room, the office room, the government room or the military room—good things happened. When trust was not in the room, good things did not happen. Everything else is details.26 Muralidharan, Karthik. Well, we all hear and follow, in the universe of digital marketing, that the best kind of marketing that has ever penetrated the analytical minds and at times not so analytical minds of customers is "storytelling". 😇 The stories that lay the foundation of the brand. The story behind it. I think we all have a few stories that might not have helped us to build a business empire of our own.......yet....... :) , but have helped us navigate the crisscross in our individual, professional journeys. I for one have a story of an individual that I often look back at... when in a pickle. :) Being a 90's child I think the girls of our age grew up with success stories of strong women that were making it big at the time. One such braveheart is -KIRAN BEDI. The first woman IPS officer in India. In my initial years, I was quite intimidated by the fact that she was an IPS officer with that "lal- batti" govt. vehicle and all the usual cliches..you know. But only when I grew up and became a bit more analytical in my perceptions, did I realize it was not the fact that she was a designated IPS officer of India that burdened my adolescent mind but the fact that she was the FIRST! The fact that she was the only woman in her batch of 80 men. The fact that from being a traffic commissioner in New Delhi to taking up the narcotics control bureau and later the inspector general in TIHAR jail which is home to the most feared criminals, she sailed through with utmost diligence, grace, and dignity. Mostly the fact that in a highly patriarchal society, she acquired the will, courage, and later the power that made her what she is today. This is not a brand story but a story of an individual who became a brand for so many girls of the 90s and the coming years ahead. Inspiring and filling the girls with courage, bravery, and a dose of self-respect. What is the value of education that does not inculcate passion and fearlessness for setting right what is wrong?“ – She says. Well, that was mine! What is YOUR favorite story that has inspired you in your career? Be it a person or a brand! I Would love to hear your story too that you look up to when work or life around you sucks! Share with me here! . . . . . . #inspirationalstories #mondaymotivation #mondaythougts #motivational #storytelling #worklifebalance

Read this report by Axis Mutual Fund on Women’s Investment Behaviour 2024, and it felt so timely and relevant, especially as we continue to drive our #BlueBindi program. The findings suggest that Indian women are becoming increasingly proactive in managing their finances, with a strong emphasis on education, long-term planning, and a growing preference for equity and SIPs as investment vehicles. Seeing this shift among women in taking control of their finances is truly inspiring and reinforces the importance of our program :) Proud to be part of this journey!
