We are currently experiencing the convergence of three extraordinary circumstances: Technological Advancement: Rapid advancements in technology, especially in areas like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and quantum computing, are transforming industries and everyday life at an unprecedented pace. 🚀 Global Interconnectivity: The world is more interconnected than ever before, facilitated by the internet, social media, and global trade, leading to a complex, interdependent global society. 🌍 Environmental and Societal Challenges: Humanity faces significant challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality, which require coordinated global efforts and innovative solutions. 🌱 These three factors create a unique environment with both opportunities and challenges, shaping the future of humanity in profound ways. In this rapidly evolving landscape, continuous learning and professional development are crucial. As a healthcare professional, a health tech founder, and a startup advisor, I’ve learned that success results from a mix of many different variables, and sometimes, as the cascading consequence of one or two extraordinary decisions or singular events. Reflecting on the uniqueness of the times in which we live, the recent launch of a venture aiming to upend legacy research systems in biotech and pharma, and my new role on my alma mater's alumni board, I want to underscore the value of completing a Master of Public Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. 🏛️ Although I graduated a few years ago, the benefits of the program continue to manifest in my career. It equipped me with a deep understanding of the healthcare system, which has been crucial for identifying challenges and opportunities in this 'brave new world' of ours. This foundation aids in my decision-making processes within my ventures and allows me to provide strategic guidance to the startups in my portfolio. Equally, if not more importantly, the program allowed me to meet and nurture strong bonds with a faculty composed of healthcare builders and practitioners plus 27 amazing leaders and healthcare architects, whom I am privileged to call friends and classmates. They are individuals who would answer the phone at 2am if I ever called (though there might be two or three who would wait ‘til 6am to call back 😊📞). If you are a healthcare entrepreneur or are seeking insights to help you lead the way forward in the healthcare space, I highly recommend considering Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health's Executive MHA/MPH Program. It will give you the skills, network, and perspective needed to thrive in today's dynamic healthcare landscape. 🎓👥 Becca, thanks for sharing this! I look forward to working with you to support current and incoming students! 👍

A high-performing health care system is the sum of its parts. When you visit one of our locations, you'll interact with your doctors, nurses, specialists, receptionists, or even a member of our environmental services team. But there are so many individuals working hard behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly throughout the entire system. Bhumi Kundu, director of internal audit, is one of those vital team members. In this episode of "Here for Good: Inside Edition," Dennis and Bhumi chat about how her work ensures that patients receive top-notch care, her inspiring career journey, and so much more. I've posted a bit on Consultant Relations in the Health Benefits world, especially re the common questions I receive (how to hire, geography versus house) but time and time again, I have to caveat my answers. Why you ask? A: the Commercial Team behind you (actually, supporting and leading and guiding you) should actually dictate the most accurate answers to said FAQs. FF: I am lucky enough to be working with the Commercial crew at Virta Health (pic: very small subset of the whole team). Giddy up! Special shout-outs to Trent Myers, Jennifer Chisholm, and Kimberly Lozowski! #consultantrelations #consultantrelationships #brokerrelations #vendorrelations

Wisdom from Caffe Vivre in Newport Beach. Consistency is key to success in business. As an MSL it means showing up at your best in spite of travel snafus, changing schedules and priorities and the inconstancy of life on the road. Being prepared to have a great conversation when your 30 minute meeting changes to a 5 minute chat due to an unplanned patient emergency or, if you’re lucky, when your 5 minute chat turns unexpectedly into a 30 minute meeting. Wishing all of my MSL friends consistent greatness (or at least goodness) in a role that is constantly in flux.
