This place is depressing as Hell these days... ...and I know I am not the only one who feels like this. I got a ton of skills, from typing at 13-14 kph/60 wpm to being able to program in languages like SQL and C++ to having ETL experience on large scale databases to being able to handle most administrative functions to being familiar with most types of technology/software out there, and there is NOTHING going on here. And all this place does these days is to throw anecdotes and "suggested content" in my feed. Not actual jobs, or anyone actually actively hiring. Like many others, I have applied for jobs (now going past the triple digit range since I was laid off at the end September 2023) just like the rest of you on here. And nothing is happening. NOTHING. But I have to keep hearing about how "great" everything is, when the world around me and the prices at the places I shop at tell me differently; and trust me on this one, I "window shop" more than I actually buy these days because I have to save every cent I get (and unemployment will run out sooner than later). This is my 2024. And it seems I have no use to anyone, anymore. Just what exactly does the world want from me these days other than not be a part of it? But I continue on, because what other choice is there? #DiscussLOL

Answered phone. "I'm looking for a Software Engineer. What is your W-2 hourly rate?" I am a Software Developer. $300, maybe lower if it sounds fun. "Oh. I need Software Engineer for $60." Tell a friend who is good at faking buzzwords. Call me when you want software developed. My phone rang at 17:07 so business day ended before this call started. The call included a couple more exchanges communicating even less than the first two. I truly believe he thinks Developers and Engineers are different people. Despite my frequently mentioning "Engineer" means "Imposter", no Recruiter knows that. You know you are a Modern Software Engineer (Imposter) who fears a Real Software Developer will make your work look bad, but Recruiters and most Managers do not understand the difference. Anyone else notice that he never said anything about the work? Most recruiters know nothing about the work, not what type of software (customers or internal, applications, reports, games, low-level, etc.) or what industry. They usually read off technical terms and acronyms, at least enough so I can guess the software platform. Any "Software Engineer" (Imposter) would be fine for this job. - He just asked if I am cheap. -- I very much tried to click Post after the 4 lines of the phone conversation.
