Terri Burke shed light on the evaluation process for new products, highlighting the need to identify the target patient population and articulate the problem being solved. She emphasized the significance of aligning with the right investors for each stage of a company's lifecycle. Fabio Sagebin, MD, discussed the necessity of co-creation to bridge the gap between engineering and surgical needs, and William C. Wilson, MD, MA, encouraged a problem-centric approach to innovation, emphasizing the importance of understanding the barriers that have hindered progress in the past. Wilson stated, "You need to look at what is the problem, and what are the key reasons why you haven’t addressed it in the past?" A thought that all innovators should keep in mind.
