According to UNHCR, “more than 114 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes, due to conflict, persecution and human rights violations. Children account for 30% of the world’s population but comprise 40% of all forcibly displaced people”. With staggering numbers, our humanity is calling for us to be more compassionate. It is our collective responsibility as people blessed with God’s compassion to extend our hands to those who need our compassion and kindness at this critical time. I made this some years back. I think it is still relevant. Helping refugees is both a humanitarian obligation and a benefit to society. Refugees often flee war, persecution, or natural disasters, seeking safety and a chance to rebuild their lives. By offering assistance, we uphold human rights and international commitments to protect the vulnerable. Additionally, refugees bring diverse skills, talents, and perspectives that can enrich host communities, contributing economically and culturally.
