Act for Peace Partnerships and Programs Team members were in Tonga recently conducting a review workshop on the Kau-He-Lau (No One Left Behind) program with our partner the Tonga National Council of Churches (TNCC). This inclusive program ensures that people with disabilities and other vulnerable community members are supported in all aspects of disaster preparation and response. Climate change is a key driver of displacement for our Pacific neighbours. Rising sea levels and increasingly frequent storms and extreme weather events are forcing more people to flee their homes than ever. In Tonga, four communities were displaced by the 2022 Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai volcano and tsunami and are now living in new village locations. The Kau He Lau program goes beyond providing emergency relief, to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters while ensuring no one is left behind. Act for Peace gratefully acknowledges the support of the US Government through the USAID program. USAID
