I often get asked, “What’s the difference between a good resume and an outstanding one?” According to statistics, hiring managers spend approximately 7 seconds scanning a resume before deciding if they want to know more about the applicant. 😲 So, making a great first impression is everything! Here are 10 simple ways to turn a good resume into an OUTSTANDING one: 1. Tailor It to the Job Good: Lists skills and experience. Outstanding: Matches your skills with the specific job, showing how you can solve the company’s problems. 2. Show Your Achievements Good: Describes what you did. Outstanding: Highlights results with numbers, like “Increased sales by 30%” or “Led a $5M project.” 3. Create a Compelling Summary Good: Provides a general summary of skills. Outstanding: Starts with a personal statement that clearly shows why you’re the best fit. 4. Use the Right Keywords Good: Mentions industry terms. Outstanding: Uses keywords from the job description to get noticed by both hiring managers and screening software. 5. Use Action Words Good: Lists duties. Outstanding: Uses strong verbs like “Spearheaded” or “Optimized” to show your impact. 6. Keep It Clean and Easy to Read Good: Has a basic layout. Outstanding: Is neat, organized, and easy to navigate. 7. Focus on the Value You Bring Good: Tells what you did. Outstanding: Explains how your work added value and how you’ll do the same in this new role. 8. Stay Relevant Good: Lists various experiences. Outstanding: Includes only relevant experience for the job you’re applying to. 9. Show Off Your Soft Skills Good: Lists skills like teamwork and communication. Outstanding: Provides examples, like “Collaborated to reduce project timelines by 15%.” 10. Customize for Each Role Good: Uses the same resume for all jobs. Outstanding: Tailors each resume, showing you’ve done your research and are invested in the role. #ResumeTips #JobSearch #CareerAdvice #Hiring #ResumeWriting

It's not just about getting noticed; it's about kindling interest. Presented here are 𝐟𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, outlined with clear and impactful directives: 👇🏻 ✔️ 𝑻𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒓 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑬𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑱𝒐𝒃: Ditch the one-size-fits-all approach. Customize your resume for every application by spotlighting the skills and experiences that resonate with the job description. This customization not only shows your interest but also underscores why you're the ideal candidate. ✔️ 𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒚 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑨𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔: Merely listing job responsibilities won't cut it. Highlight your successes with quantifiable data. For instance, if you've boosted sales, specify the percentage increase. Attaching real numbers to your achievements makes them more concrete and impactful. ✔️ 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚 𝑫𝒚𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔: Start each bullet point with vigorous verbs that showcase your proficiency. Utilizing action words like “achieved,” “developed,” and “implemented” illustrates your proactive role in accomplishments, rendering your resume more engaging. ✔️ 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒄𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆 𝑽𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒆: Differentiate yourself by articulating what you offer. Whether it's particular skills, certifications, or relevant experiences, emphasizing what sets you apart is key to standing out. ✔️ 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆: Given the limited time recruiters spend on each resume, it's crucial to keep yours concise and focused on the most relevant details. Align your resume with the specifics of the job at hand, understanding that brevity can significantly amplify your resume's impact. By implementing these tactics, you not only enhance the attractiveness of your resume but also convey a deep comprehension of what employers seek, substantially boosting your odds of securing an interview. #resume #jobsearchtips #careeradvice #professionaldevelopment #employabilityskills #quantifiableachievements #actionverbs #uniquevalue #personalbrand #recruitmentinsights #interviewprep #jobsearch

Executive Resume Writer endorsed & hired by Recruiters | Ex-Executive Search Recruiter | 190+ monthly LinkedIn Recommendations over 10 years | FreeExecJobSearchTraining.com | M.E.T.A Job Landing System Creator
You can’t say “I’m ready for anything” at work but then not have a resume ready to send if a recruiter called you today about a leadership role with a far higher salary than you’ve ever dreamed of earning. Not being ready in your own career is not in alignment with any messaging you ‘say’ about being a prepared leader…. This is a very real scenario… Nearly every week, I hear from at least one executive who’s experiencing that exact situation. 👀 Sounds like a good reality to face, right? Not if your resume isn’t updated, polished, and ready to share quickly. Because if it isn’t, they often move on. 🏃♂️ Yes, they’re usually willing to give you a bit of time (hours, not days) to send them your resume so you can make a few customizations based on the info they share about the job and company… But if your existing resume isn’t already impeccable, you can kiss this opportunity goodbye. So, what do you need to do to be ready if an insanely great job calls today? Take these 4 steps now: ✅ Pull out your resume and update it with your current role and most recent prior roles. Include relevant accomplishments that pertain to the job you want next. ✅ Ensure you’re using a modern layout for your updated resume. Check out these samples that have landed six-figure job interviews: https://lnkd.in/gEvwZyg2. ✅ Write effective, achievement-focused resume bullets. Use this formula: List the task along with the challenge or opportunity you faced, the action you took to fix the challenge or capitalize on the opportunity, and the result that came from your action. ✅ Correlate your resume with your LinkedIn profile. When your resume and profile communicate two different goals, it can stop hiring managers in their tracks. Make sure the content within each document is supportive and in sync. Do you want to see these suggestions in action? You’ll find them all in my fr*ee executive resume writing and job search strategy masterclass. It take about an hour and you can access it on demand here: https://lnkd.in/gidF4_za Do it sooner rather than later…because opportunity doesn’t wait. #jobsearch #resume #executiveresume #recruiting #gethired

I've spent a lot of time thinking about how I can improve my chances of finding a job, and I wanted to share some ideas for anyone who may need some help. 𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗯, 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 1. Optimize your resume with clear formatting, strong action verbs, measurable achievements (use numbers!), and focus on results over responsibilities. 2. Tailor your resume to the specific role by including relevant keywords and removing unnecessary information. 3. Whenever possible, write a cover letter—using a template can make the process easier. 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗯𝘀 4. When finding jobs to apply for, filter for jobs posted more recently, ideally within the last week or two weeks 5. Don’t rely on LinkedIn easy apply, applying directly on the company website is typically best 6. After applying, reach out directly to the recruiter or hiring manager to express your interest, and follow up after interviews to show gratitude. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝘀 7. Be ready to answer both hypothetical and experience-based questions related to the role (e.g., “If you had to do X, how would you approach it?” or “Tell me about a time you did X”). 8. Ensure your appearance and discussion points align with the company’s energy and cultural vibe. 9. During the interview, be enthusiastic, as if you're talking to someone about your passion #resume #jobsearch #tips
