NE registered contractor, member ACHP, and insured for small business and rental property customers. Tech installer, office and residential furniture assembly. Minor electrical and plumbing, more...
Using a platform like Slack is a good idea , especially for keeping a far flung team on the same page (or pages). But, it requires more than just creating a space and extending invitations to others. someone needs to take on the role of Slack (or similar) coordinator and organizer. People won't be sure to know where to post certain information in vague or too-general areas. They likely won't know too many of the other who are "far-flung" as well. Consequently, they won't know who else beside the few primaries they've been in direct contact with to invite or share information with. If it is just a quick, thrown up, thing, you might likely find it stagnating and ignored after the first few days. Don't blame the team members. #slack #teams #organization #coordination #communication

Now What is slack ? Slack is an internal communication tool that is a messaging app for business that connects people to the information they need. By bringing people together to work as one unified team, Slack transforms the way organizations/ companies communicate. Slack helps one to work in a more connected, flexible, and inclusive way. Slack helps to connect colleagues that is it makes access to your colleagues easy , and one can send messages to anyone inside or outside the organization and collaborate just like you would in person. People can work in dedicated spaces called channels that bring together the right people and information Channels is where communication with your team about specific topics takes place in. We use mentions to get the attention of the right people, and emoji reactions to simplify communication in channels. You can also add files to any conversation and record audio and video clips to collaborate with your teammates more easily. slack also add clarity to communication in Slack, you can format your messages. You can also schedule messages to send in the future or edit messages you've already sent. #digitalwitch#IT#

Executive Sales Coach & GTM Advisor | 3x financial exits | Angel Investor | Sometimes I post useful stuff on LinkedIn
I've been leveraging Slack videos and audio recordings more and more recently. I've found that this has been able to do a few things for me and my team: ▪️ Reduce typing ▪️ Speed up transference of knowledge ▪️ Build greater clarity & context ▪️ Provide visual aids ▪️ Reduce unnecessary meetings I used to write paragraphs to try to get my point across. Now, a 15 second video is all I need. Perhaps I'm late to the party on this, but this has been a huge game changer for me, esp in a remote world where a majority of our interactions are text based. Anyone else have any Slack tips (or apps) that help with productivity, communication, and/or training? 🤔 #slack #communication #collaboration #deathbymeetings

There’s a lot of power in writing things down. It helps you remember information better and gives you the option to share knowledge with others and potentially empower them to be more effective and efficient in their own work. So, even if you have a basic process for organizing your emails, keeping Slack from becoming a distraction, or anything else useful, write it down. Oftentimes it’s the little things that make a big impact. #documentation #collaboration

Co-Founder @ Digital Waffle - The go-to partner when scaling your team within Tech, Digital, Marketing & Data - without the usual bullsh*t.
We've used Slack for the past 6+ years at Digital Waffle and I now can't imagine work without it, especially when working remotely. However, I can't be the only one who gets annoyed when a colleague messages me on Slack - when they're sat right next to me... This raises an important question: How can we leverage collaboration tools like Slack while still fostering strong interpersonal connections? Are we losing the ability to ask for help, challenge ideas, or celebrate successes face-to-face? (other Team Communication Platforms available)

From all the nerds (like me) to everyone trying to figure out how to deal with us, here's a tip: please don't treat asynchronous communication the same way you would a live conversation. Give me all the information upfront so I can respond with what you need when I have a moment. If I get a "Hello Nick" in Slack... I might just ignore you until you give me the full context. I will definitely ignore you if I'm in a flow state. There are two types of communication: synchronous and asynchronous. Synchronous Communication: This is your phone call, virtual meeting, or in-person chat (remember those?). It's like a tennis match when done right: listen, respond, listen, respond... Asynchronous Communication: This includes emails, direct messages, texts, etc. Think of it as a book: you can put it down and pick it up later. Or not at all. Platforms like Slack, Teams, and Google Chat are all about async communication. When done right, it's a fantastic way to collaborate. Make the most of it by being clear, concise, and most importantly, complete in sending messages.
