Soniplas goes biodegradable Not satisfied with reducing the energy consumption & carbon footprint of plastics production amongst the most popular polymer grades in the industry, Matrix Moulding Systems (MMS) have now proven the effectiveness of Soniplas in enhancing the flow characteristics of a biodegradable & renewable plastic derived from corn, potatoes and other biomass: PLA (Polylactic Acid). Using our spiral test tool, we have been able to demonstrate a flow enhancement of up to 120%, compared with spirals moulded under normal conditions. This allows for more economic (lower temperature) moulding but also enables “hard to fill” part production. Reducing injection pressure was also found to increase the effectiveness of the viscosity reduction – enabling the production of PLA parts on smaller injection moulding machines. NEW RESEARCH ALERT! Crystal Research Associates released a 68-page EIO on Aduro Clean Technologies Inc. (ACTHD-OTCQX/ACT-CSE), a Canadian company that has discovered a chemical reaction platform that is able to break down and transform large hydrocarbon materials, such as plastic waste or bitumen, to more valuable products for use in fuels, new plastics, or other chemicals. Their proprietary Hydrochemolytic™ Technology (HCT) is versatile and applicable across three key sectors: (1) Plastic Upcycling: Converts plastic waste into chemical feedstock for new plastic and chemical production. (2) Bitumen Upgrading: Upgrades heavy oil and bitumen to transportable crude oils without needing diluents. (3) Renewables Upgrading: Transforms animal and vegetable oils into renewable fuels and chemical feedstock. HCT provides significant efficiency and environmental advantages. In its waste plastic application, the technology provides higher tolerance for contaminants, reduced chemical post-treatment needs, and lower energy demand due to lower operating temperatures. In bitumen upgrading, HCT minimizes the need for diluents, enhancing transport capacity and reducing costs. Aduro has successfully scaled its technology from lab-scale reactors to continuous flow processing units. Now, the focus is on commercialization through their revenue-generating Customer Engagement Program (CEP) and the development of their Next Generation Process (NGP) reactor. The Company is listed on the OTCQB under the ticker “ACTHD,” on the Canadian Securities Exchange (CSE) under the ticker “ACT,” and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under the ticker “9D50”. NOTE: The Company's share consolidation, effective August 20th, temporarily changed Aduro's OTCQX ticker to ACTHD for 20 business days, after which it will revert to ACTHF. It was once again a great pleasure to serve as a chairman at the 2nd Annual World Biopolymer and Bioplastics Innovation Forum, 28-29 Feb 2024. We had the opportunity to hear very informative presentations and the high level of technical details helped us to better understand opportunities and challenges ahead. We also presented the AddBio-project recently started at Sirris | Innovation forward, evaluating the potential of residual biomass streams to serve as functional fillers in coatings. Thanks again to the team of Leadvent Group for their excellent professionalism in conference organization! Some take-home messages: · Clear #communication on #labelling and bio-based claims should be made towards public and users, · Consensus on clear definitions and correct terminology is mandatory in the field of #biopolymers and #bioplastics, · #Sustainable #sourcing should include a good balance between biobased and recycled material content, where feasible · Future-proof plastics for a circular economy should take into account either re-use or remanufacturing during the design phase, and ultimately lead to different end-of-life options targeting #biodegradation and/or #recyclability depending on the application. · Efforts are put in place to create new valorization chains that enable access to #renewable #feedstock in parallel with recognized certification schemes. · Specific applications of biopolymers in traditional and emerging sectors are demonstrated, i.e. #packaging, #automotive, #marine environment, personal and home #care, #coatings, #adhesives. Looking forward to the following conference edition next year!

📽 Witness the construction of our Zeopore industrial scale unit as it materializes into reality! As the construction is now fully completed, the installation is ready to fulfil our customer orders received from world-leading catalyst suppliers. In addition to our bespoke catalyst innovations, we are validating our industrial process technology to enable the delivery of modified zeolites on a ton scale to refining and petrochemical companies, making their plants more performant and sustainable. This strengthens our IP and technology position along the journey from lab to full-scale industrial production. Furthermore, our installation will serve as a hub for producing modified zeolites tailored for circular applications, such as renewable fuels and chemicals, CO2 capturing, and plastic waste recycling. We thank our investors for their commitment, our engineering partners for their flexibility, our customers for their trust, and our operations team for their relentless dedication, to make this a reality within one year, from initial idea to implementation. Biotechnology for Sustainable Materials. Another article "Valorization of hemicellulose waste streams for moisture barrier coatings and hydrophobic films" published in our journal. This article report about a method to transform xylan, a plant polysaccharide from agro-industrial waste, into a viable alternative to petroleum-based plastics. By functionalizing xylan with octyl isocyanate, we’ve enhanced its solubility, thermoplastic, and hydrophobic properties while retaining its compostability. This eco-friendly material shows great potential for use in packaging and other applications, paving the way for a circular bioeconomy. Download and read the complete article. https://lnkd.in/gqJFrNx5 We are looking for more quality works for publication in this journal. More to come as we continue to innovate in sustainable polymer science! #Sustainability #Biopolymers #CircularEconomy #PackagingInnovation
