🌱 Farmers across Europe are rallying for help as they face rising operating costs and tough competition. They're asking for support from governments and the EU to protect the farming sector. Tools like AGRICORE are part of the EU's efforts to help policymakers make decisions that benefit farmers. AGRICORE aims to provide tools for informed policy-making, in order to help shape policies that support European agriculture. Let's stand with our farmers and recognize the importance of initiatives like AGRICORE. #SupportFarmers #AGRICORE #EU #Farming IDENER.AI Università degli Studi di Parma Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) Akdeniz University AXIA Innovation GmbH EXELISIS Ayesa University of Technology and Life Sciences in Bydgoszcz Instytut Agrofizyki PAN / Institute of Agrophysics, PAS Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía STAM SRL STAM SRL

Check-out a new FAO report: "Case studies of the use of agricultural biotechnologies to meet the needs of smallholders in developing countries" The report covers 15 case studies (animals and #crops) with a wide range of different species, world regions and production systems. The impacts reported in the case studies were consistently positive for the different indicators considered. The case studies highlighted the need for farmers to increase their yields while, equally important, facing the challenges of climate change which are now a reality. The report also identified 4 key ingredients needed for success: - Partnerships - Long-term commitment - Government support - Good communication #GMO #NGTs #agriculture

Do you Know that more than 50% of production loss is attributed to the diverse array of stresses affecting 91% of the world's cropland? Combating abiotic stress in crops requires a multifaceted approach that integrates cutting-edge science, innovative technologies, and sustainable farming practices. Emerging agronomical approaches (biochar, kaolin, chitosan, use of superabsorbents, and seaweed extract) look promising and have been demonstrated to counteract the effects of abiotic stresses on crops, though their mechanisms still remain unclear, and more clarity is required. Interdisciplinary crosstalk via international collaboration, conferences, publications, and data sharing is required to enable researchers to integrate knowledge and skills from several disciplines to obtain a better and thorough an understanding of the problems, resulting in comprehensive solutions. In conclusion, abiotic stress can significantly impact the health and yield of your crops. Remember to always pay attention to your crops' needs and make adjustments as necessary to keep them healthy and thriving. #CropResilience #AbioticStress #SustainableAgriculture #SoilHealth

Map and Zap: AI and lasers join forces for precise, sustainable weed control 🎯🌾 Great to see this innovation in action! Check out the video below for a demo, and keep an eye out for KiwiNet's own Michelle Polglase 🎥👀 #Commercialisation #AgriTech
Imagine zapping weeds with a laser instead of using chemicals. And having that laser guided precisely to the right targets with Artifical Intelligence. This is now a reality with the Map and Zap system developed by AgResearch. The system is designed to be used in different agricultural settings, and can be fitted to the likes of a tractor or robot to suit the food production system it is operating in. Find out more in the video below showing the Map and Zap prototype, with founder Kioumars Ghamkhar, in action in front of some industry leaders and Associate Minister of Agriculture (Horticulture) Nicola Grigg. 📄 Presenting you 4. Case study - Developing the protein autonomy of dairy cattle farms in France. The objective of this case study is to develop the protein autonomy of dairy cattle farms in France (autonomy from market, American soy, more resilient during economic crisis…) to increase the production of legumes, and maintain the production of oilseeds. Also, better use of grasslands. 🌐 Curious to know more? ->https://lnkd.in/dKZUavcJ #publicadministration , #appliedresearch , #advisors , #feedproducers, #seedproducers, #dairyfarmers , #agriculturaleducation . . . . . Modern farming methods—think mechanization, genetically modified crops, and agrochemicals—defeat hunger wherever they are implemented. Unfortunately, these practices also have an environmental cost, leading certain activists to condemn them outright. In reality, however, low-tech alternatives to modern agriculture are often far worse, for both humans and the environment. One of the best things we could do for the environment would be to modernize agriculture even further. The environmental scientist Jesse Ausubel has noted that if every farmer adopted modern techniques, “an area the size of India or the USA east of the Mississippi could be released globally from agriculture over the next 50 years or so.” Indeed, this transition has already begun.
