Met with Tracy Taylor this morning and learned about the NZ-EU FTA conditions - a wake-up call for Supply Chain professionals. Key regulations to watch out for: 🌍 EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) impacts 50,000 EU-based companies and 'large' private firms, requiring disclosure of risks and impacts on people and the environment. 🌿 EU’s European Sustainability Reporting Directive (ESRD) mandates reporting on environmental, social, and governance aspects to enhance transparency. ♻️ EU’s Green Claims Directive combats greenwashing from 2024-2027, ensuring eco claims have substantial proof. Food exporters to EU need to show compliance with banned chemicals regulations. 🔄 EU’s Eco-design for Sustainable Products Regulation focuses on product lifecycle improvements, resource efficiency, and a Digital Product Passport (DPP) for visibility. Non-compliant products face restrictions in 2026. Are you keeping up? The EU Green Deal is rolling out fast - to make Europe transition into a resource-efficient economy. Loads of abbreviations and new laws are being passed and it can get confusing 🤷♀️ Companies were just getting used to: ✅ CSRD (Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive) and the connected ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) where most companies are now in full force to do their Double Materiality Assessment to comply. ✅ Green Claims directive to stop greenwashing and ensure there is proof behind statements. And just yesterday The EU Parliament adopted: ✅ CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive) – to ensure companies can identify, prevent, mitigate, and account for adverse environmental and human rights impacts in their operations and value chains. ✅ PPWR (European Packaging and packaging waste) directive - to reduce the amount of packaging waste generated in the EU. New regulatory guidance on 'greenwashing' has been reviewed by the IUA. As more and more financial products aim to demonstrate qualities of sustainability, the Financial Conduct Authority is introducing new guidance to ensure such claims are not exaggerated or misleading. Responding to an official consultation exercise on behalf of member companies, the IUA has welcomed the guidance. In addition, it has called for further examples of best practice to be published so that insurers can be clear about what they need to consider when discussing sustainability.

🇪🇺 Last Wednesday, the European Parliament granted its ultimate approval to a new legislation aimed at prohibiting deceptive environmental assertions on products and enhancing labeling practices.
