Wet blood spot technology is a method used to collect and analyze small samples of blood on filter paper. Unlike dried blood spot (DBS) technology, where blood is allowed to dry on the filter paper, wet blood spot technology maintains the blood sample in a wet or liquid state until analysis, allowing the preservation and recovery of fresh, high-quality blood cells. ✔️ This approach can offer numerous advantages including enhanced sensitivity, as some analytes (biological molecules or chemical compounds) may be more stable or easier to detect in a wet state. It also allows for immediate processing and increased accuracy by reducing variability introduced by the drying process. 🆚 MIRA, or Multienzyme Isothermal Rapid Amplification, operates at a constant temperature of 39-42℃, completing nucleic acid amplification and delivering results in just 5-20 minutes. Available in freeze-dried and microsphere forms, MIRA performs amplification at room temperature, significantly reducing the risk of aerosol contamination. In contrast, LAMP, or Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification, operates at a higher constant temperature of 65℃ and takes 40-60 minutes to produce results. It is only available in liquid form, which makes storage and transportation inconvenient and requires a high operating temperature that increases the risk of aerosol contamination.
