Today is #Graduation Day at Brooklyn Blue Feather Elementary School! 🧑🎓👩🎓🎓
Max Licorish personifies the hard work and spirit of the 2024 graduating class. His dad Dwayne says “I’m very excited and proud today. Max came form a totally non-verbal world. To see him with these accomplishments, I’m totally in awe and excited to go into to middle school.”
Congrats to all of our amazing graduates and their families on a day we hope they will never forget! 🥳👏🎉
🔥 Absolutely love this post! 🔥 Being a first-generation student, my experience playing baseball at the community college level paved the way for my Division 1 aspirations, my Bachelor's degree, and even a career in professional baseball. Now, I'm passionate about supporting and advocating for community college student-athletes. That's why I pursued my Masters in College Counseling and Student Development – to give back to students aiming for higher education and athletic success. When I think about the reason California Community Colleges and Santa Ana College means so much to our students, community, alum and to me personally, I think about the purpose around our mission to empower the most talented individuals.
Santa Ana College Alum C.J. Wilson and former Angels Professional Baseball player and former Don player--awarded the California Junior College Co-Player of the Year award and I had a fun moment connecting a few years ago during Santa Ana College's 100th celebration.
Seeing moments like this again remind me of love of the game of life and higher education and why it all matters so very much. C.J. Wilson

In less than two years, Lindenwood University went from being bullish on Division I, to cutting nine varsity sports. What happened?

Don't be surprised if you see Kennesaw State University or University of Indianapolis follow the lead of Lindenwood to cut athletics opportunities in the coming years. The finances don't add up and there will be a tidal wave of expenses not realized by the leaders at these institutions.
Analysis on KSU, UIndy: https://lnkd.in/gZEQrgKW
Or for that matter, University of Southern Indiana.
Analysis on USI: https://lnkd.in/g_KPQGZGUniversity of Delaware are you paying attention? Of course they aren't. As of 2019, Delaware operated on 87% subsidy from students and the institution. Athletics is generating only 13% of its own revenue to pay its bills, and wants to move to CUSA and DI-FBS? Unwise financial decision that will lead to cuts in the near future. It costs MORE to move up a division than the new money raised. Always.

Link to list. It's actually a decent list, as the top 10 is hard to argue with, though you can quibble with it naturally (eg, Morgantown doesn't belong in the top 100, let alone top 20 IMO 😀).

What is your favorite thing about Chesterton and why?
Chesterton Academy provides a joyful environment to learn while being focused on the Church. My favorite aspect is definitely witnessing growth in peers as we all help each other grow in holiness.
What is your favorite class and why?
Philosophy has become my new favorite class this year. It is amazing to be surrounded by peers who are willing to logically discuss and study philosophers to better understand truth.
What was your greatest challenge to overcome in adjusting to a new school like Chesterton?
Everyone was new and coming from different schools when we started; some homeschool and some private schools. At first it was difficult to adjust to the varying ideas of what the culture of the school should be like, but gradually, by the Grace of God, we were able to build a new culture of students from those various backgrounds. We strive to help each other be true Saints every day.
What is your best Chesterton memory?
My favorite memory from Chesterton was the 1st Gala in 2023. After that night, we all realized how special and important our mission is. It is truly a blessing getting to help that mission come into affect.
How does it feel to be part of CASJ's first EVER graduating class?
Honestly, it's really crazy to be graduating from Chesterton as the very first class. I look back and realize how providential my transfer to Chesterton really was. Chesterton has pushed me, in many ways, out of my comfort zone. Surrounded by encouraging teachers and peers, I have truly learned how to be a leader, especially as the lone female senior. These are lessons that will serve me well for years to come.
What are your plans next year?
I will be attending Hillsdale College with plans to pursue a degree in Biochemistry.

Welcoming students back to campus, and starting year 6 at Ashland University myself! 💜🦅
My last first day of school (for now 🤣) and it feels so bittersweet to think that I may not have another last first day of school at AU as a student. I can't believe I will be finished with my MBA in just TWO semesters!
