This year, I witnessed a significant improvement in both the quantity and quality of submissions, especially in the social media entries. The level of innovation and creativity showcased was truly remarkable, with messages delivered in captivating and engaging ways. Some entries struggled to make serious and educational topics more engaging and accessible. Meanwhile, websites and applications often focused on design but lacked clear target audiences and goals. A key insight from this year’s judging is the growing recognition of social media’s vital role in public communication, particularly for transparency and ESG messaging. The experience left me inspired by the strides the industry is making. Indonesia Applied Digital Economy & Regulatory Network (IADERN)’s role as a connector within Indonesia’s digital economy ecosystem has been instrumental in fostering innovation and collaboration. I look forward to seeing how these advancements will continue to shape the future of digital PR in Indonesia. Qual Research: What Drives Brand Loyalty Among Young Indonesian Consumers? Our recent focus groups with college students and first jobbers in Jakarta and Malang revealed insights into how Indonesia's youth connect with brands. The loyalty equation isn't simple anymore. Young consumers seek brands that deliver on three core elements: 1. Quality products that consistently meet expectations 2. Strong reputation built on authentic communication 3. Clear alignment with personal values and social causes What caught our attention? The "Influence Paradox." While peer recommendations remain golden, young consumers are increasingly sceptical of traditional influencer marketing. They prefer honest, balanced reviews over perfectly polished content. Digital presence matters more than ever. "I always check how a brand looks on Instagram before buying. If it's messy or inconsistent, I don't trust them," shared one participant. Most surprising? The power of inclusivity. Brands that genuinely promote diversity and support underrepresented groups resonate strongly with this demographic. As one participant put it: "It's not just about what you sell. It's about how you make me feel and whether I can trust you."
