A newer friend contacted me recently to ask me about some things I had liked on social media about the atrocities occurring in the middle east. It was a vulnerable and powerful conversation in which I learned, again, that I am as propagandized as anyone else. The thing white supremacy is best at is dividing us - from each other and from our humanity. I do not know enough about the particulars to have an informed or even helpful opinion on the overall conflict. I do know that anti-semitism and Islamaphobia and racism are all real and the result is harm to us all. I do know that we must continue to commit ourselves to our humanity - even when it is scary and risky. What does that mean? Personally, for me it means working to build the skills to counter racism, anti-semitism and and Islamaphobia in myself and others. It means being willing to take correction and action when I am offered it. It also means reflecting on what I am told to know what I stand for and not simply parrot the loudest (or most recent) voice in the room. It also means being pro -peace and pro-human rights in my actions and choices - whenever and wherever possible. There is a lot of misinformation being spread currently. What we do know is that war brings out the worst in people and there are a lot of innocent people being killed - Palestinian and Israeli, as well as Islam and Jewish people. It is all horrific. https://lnkd.in/gzpq4KZt https://lnkd.in/g9kQqNVD https://lnkd.in/g8RbJc9V

This is Samantha Woll. She was murdered, stabbed to death, outside of her home. She was the President of a synagogue. We don’t know yet who did this. But in today’s context, it’s hard not to think there’s anti-Semitism involved. 😣 Regardless of who did this, this is WRONG. We are not allowed to kill people just because we are afraid of them. Or afraid of people like them. 😡 I’m livid for her. And gut-wrenched for her family, friends, community. ❤️🩹💔 #humanity #community #dobetter #societyandculture #peace

Thank you for honoring this beautiful soul who tragically was killed and as mentioned most likely for her religious beliefs ( as she was President of her Synagogue!) I am deeply sorry and send my condolences to her family and community. And, as well, antisemitism is deeply disturbing …violence is not permitted, in any language!!!!!! The race, the creed, the color should not matter. My broken ❤️
