The critical need to take action to address global inequities pertaining to income, sex, age, health condition, occupation, handicap, sexual orientation, drug use, gender identity, race, class, ethnicity, and religion is highlighted by Zero Discrimination Day, which is commemorated on March 1. States are required by law and morality to repeal discriminatory legislation and pass legislation shielding citizens from it. In this video, I explore the topic of "Exploring Ageism and Discrimination." Ageism, a form of prejudice or discrimination based on age, affects individuals of all ages but is particularly pervasive against older adults. Through insightful research, personal anecdotes, and professional opinions, I delve into how societal attitudes and stereotypes contribute to ageism, manifesting in workplace discrimination, healthcare biases, and social exclusion. I am posting this article for 2 reasons. 1st, it is the best examination of what is now a hot button political issue, transgender medical treatment of minors. And what makes it the best article I have read is that it explores mistakes that have been made by medical transitions without in depth psychological examinations to insure transition, not intensive psychological treatment is the proper medical treatment, as well as cases where the transition was life fulfilling, even life saving. Which brings me to my 2nd reason for posting the article, to continue my recordation of NYTimes articles that in one way or another support conservative positions. Providing further proof that the NYTimes is not the left wing propaganda rag claimed by the far right. #nytimes #transgendertreatments

Late last week, the Government unveiled the Commonwealth Consent Policy Framework, an initiative aimed at promoting healthy sexual relationships and consent among young people. This framework, tailored for various sectors including governments, education providers, communities, workplaces, sports clubs, media, health and disability providers, caring facilities, religious organizations, public services, and the justice system, is a pivotal step towards fostering a safer and more informed society. Key Framework Sections: Section 1: Defining Consent This section proposes a unified community definition of consent and highlights five core concepts supporting this definition. Section 2: Guidance and Principles Offering actionable guidance through 10 key principles, this section is a practical guide for implementing consent promotion strategies. 🔍 Exploring the 10 Principles: 1️⃣ Putting Sexual Violence into Context: Encouraging a broad understanding and intersectional approach in promoting consent and healthy sexual activity. 2️⃣ Consideration of Culture: Addressing gender-based violence drivers within specific environments, be it an organization, school, or workplace. 3️⃣ Focus on Empowerment, Skills, and Practice: Empowering young people with affirmative consent, empathy, and communication skills. 4️⃣ Balancing Pleasure with Risks: Encouraging a positive focus on healthy, pleasurable sexual activities while addressing potential risks. 5️⃣ Being Direct and Avoiding Stereotypes: Speaking plainly about consent and sexual relationships, challenging harmful gender roles and stereotypes. 6️⃣ Being Relevant, Age-Appropriate, and Preparing for Backlash: Tailoring messages for different audiences and age groups, anticipating and planning for resistance. 7️⃣ Focusing on Safety: Prioritizing safety, being inclusive, trauma-informed, and providing support. 8️⃣ Tailoring to Diverse Audience and Being Culturally Safe: Customizing content for various audiences, showcasing diverse experiences and relationships. 9️⃣ Building Partnerships: Collaborating with young people, those with lived experience, and experts for innovative design and delivery. 🔟 Measuring Progress: Strategizing how to measure progress and continually enhancing initiatives. While these principles align with ongoing work in the field, in my opinion, several aspects stood out as note-worthy, including the reaffirmation of an intersectional approach, encouragement for co-design with young people, a clear directive to speak plainly about the topic, and a notable shift towards promoting 'pleasure and healthy relationships' rather than solely focusing on avoiding sexual harm. Transphobia is a gateway hate. It opens the mind to hating a group of people for being different. Once your mind has settled on hating a group for existing differently, it is easy to spread that hate to other marginalized groups. Have you ever noticed how so many transphobes ALSO hate Black people, immigrants, & gay & lesbian people? Did you ever stop to wonder why all of these people hate the same groups? It is an insidious strategy by the hate mongers. They tried use all of these same tactics on gay and lesbian communities since the 80’s. They lost that battle, and instead turned their sights on an even smaller subset of the LGBTQ+ community, one that is simultaneously exploited sexually by the people that hate them (look up republican states and trans pr0n searches) while being demonized by those same people. Once you convince a person to hate a group for existing, their brain is rewired towards hate. They become susceptible to other propaganda espousing more hate. Transphobia is a gateway hate that turns “normies” into neo-Nazis….I’ve personally seen it happen with too many former friends & colleagues.
