This recently accepted review article from Yunzhi Peter Yang at Stanford University School of Medicine & Stanford University School of Engineering details the optimization of tissue engineering strategies for clinical relevance in rotator cuff repair. While several grafts have been implemented in clinics for RC repair, they have been met with mixed success. Addition of local mesenchymal #stemcells and growth factor delivery has the potential to augment this healing process. This review details the current clinical techniques used and mechanisms for future growth in tissue engineering. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eBAEi_GD

In the context of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, a scaffold refers to a temporary structure or framework that supports the growth and development of new tissue or organ structures. The scaffold provides physical support to cells and guides their growth into the desired tissue or organ shape. The scaffold's surface is often engineered to facilitate cell attachment, allowing cells to adhere and proliferate. As cells grow and multiply, they deposit new extracellular matrix (ECM) components, gradually forming new tissue around the scaffold. Scaffold design is a critical aspect of tissue engineering, influencing the success of regenerative therapies. How do we know if a cochlear implant recipient is hearing well if they cannot tell us? 🤔 Check out our latest paper (Aldag and Nogueira 2024) recently published in Scientific Reports. The paper describes how electroencephalography can be used as a clinical tool to assess patient performance when they are unable to provide feedback. https://lnkd.in/ebiH-GJt

We’re happy to announce that our paper Entropy Removal of Medical Diagnostics got published in Nature scientific reports! Study, with Dr. He at the helm, delves into the intricate world of decision tree modeling, revealing the untapped potential of quantifying entropy in clinical settings. Our findings showcase how entropy removal clarifies diagnostic strategies, guiding medical decision-making for optimal patient care. From thoracic aortic dissection to pneumothorax, it unveils superior imaging tests and cost-effective pathways. The future of medical diagnostics lies in harnessing the power of Shannon entropy, bridging the gap between theory and clinical practice. Full article is available on https://lnkd.in/e74eFdYc
