When you imagine autonomous driving, you likely envision someone in a car, hands-free. 🚗 But there's more to it. Autonomous driving spans five levels, with level 5 being fully autonomous. And the technology is no longer just a dream of the future: ZEISS is making autonomous driving a reality, and its spin-off Scantinel Photonics is enhancing car safety with innovative LiDAR sensors. In the near future, you should be able to relax and enjoy other activities in the car, instead of focusing on driving. Which levels have you experienced? #AI has the potential to detect and process millions of input at once. Did you know that you can theoretically detect the same amount, but your brain can only process 60 at a time? 🧠 These discrepancies can leave room for human error, especially in scenarios like driving, where every detail counts.💥AI can help: The innovative LiDAR sensors developed by ZEISS spin-off Scantinel Photonics are designed to detect objects and foresee potential road incidents up to ten seconds before they happen, paving the way to help the EU reach its goal of zero traffic deaths by 2050. 🚗 #AutonomousDriving Read more about making mobility safer and what that means for your future here: https://lnkd.in/dUJzdwJw #ZEISS #Mobility #Innovation #VisionZero

What do rainbow colours and spectroscopy have to do with each other? 🌈 ZEISS spectrometers use optical gratings to disperse light into its constituent wavelengths, also known as spectrum. This helps to identify and quantify various materials with unparalleled precision. For over 150 years, ZEISS Spectroscopy solutions and components have been used to analyse matter. Today, solutions from ZEISS Spectroscopy are applied in agriculture to assess the quality of harvested crops and in semiconductor production to control wafer manufacturing processes, for example.
