Is air cargo on the path to a greener future? 🍃 The quest for sustainability within the air cargo sector is both a formidable challenge and an imperative mission as the industry works to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. But how much progress has been made by the multifaceted strategies and innovations designed to push the industry towards a greener future? “One thing we must recognise in the air cargo industry is that we’re part of the global economy,” Glyn Hughes, the Director General of The International Air Cargo Association TIACA, shared, shining a light on the industry’s progress. “The global economy connects manufacturers, producers, and growers globally with consumers from across the world". The International Air Cargo Association TIACA’s new survey reveals a bigger picture for air cargo… the pressure for sustainability. This survey of more than 280 air cargo professionals found that 67% of participants had felt the pressure to implement more sustainable practices. A large portion of the pressure for sustainability comes from customers, employees and business partners, according to the respondents. In the coming year, The International Air Cargo Association TIACA is set to introduce a freshly certified carbon offsetting initiative designed to benefit smaller companies, enhancing their sustainability efforts. What are your thoughts on sustainability and the pressure surrounding it in the air cargo industry? ✈️ Global leaders in the air cargo industry will gather in Hong Kong (SAR), China, from March 12th to 14th, for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) World Cargo Symposium (#WCS). This is the largest and most prestigious annual air cargo event, making it an important moment for the industry and the world. 🌎 At a time when the air cargo industry is at a crucial crossroads, faced with the urgent task of reducing fuel consumption to mitigate its environmental impact, one of the main topics of the WCS will be: Driving Sustainable and Inclusive Growth. 👉🏽 Reducing fuel consumption, and consequently, carbon emissions, is not just a challenge, but a call to action for innovation, collaboration, and commitment to sustainability. And this is where one of the solutions comes in: The Eltete AircargoRunner (ACR), a strong, lightweight, and eco-friendly alternative to traditional heavy wooden bars (square timbers). ♻️ To find out more, welcome to read the half-page article on page 10 of the special magazine edition for WCS published by Air Cargo News: https://lnkd.in/eEeJjkE4 If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at info1@eltete.com It's time to Go Green! ✈ Excited to share that Smart Freight Centre and International Air Transport Association (IATA) have partnered up to provide consistent and transparent CO2 emissions calculations for air cargo shipments. 🤝 This collaboration aims to maintain transparency and advance decarbonization efforts in the global air transport sector by promoting a common methodology in CO2 emission calculations, thus ensuring accurate and consistent distribution of CO2 calculations across the industry’s biggest shippers and freight forwarders in air cargo, supporting them with pre-shipment and reporting purposes. 🌍 We believe this partnership is a significant step forward in our collective efforts to decarbonize the air transport sector. Earlier this year, The International Air Cargo Association TIACA released the fourth comprehensive study undertaken on the air cargo industry’s sustainability position. The results have been analyzed, compared to previous reports and published as the 2024 Insights Report to demonstrate the progress the industry has made towards a more sustainable future. The survey reveals, for instance, that companies see a clear link between their ESG performance and their reputation (85%) and attractiveness (73%) but less so for their bottom-line (39%). Furthermore, while most air cargo stakeholders (58%) focus on environment when talking about sustainability, 22% of them integrate at least 3 dimensions to their sustainability definition, in line with the global use of the ESG Terminology (Environment, Social, Governance). As the industry mobilizes to fully embrace sustainability, our responsibility is both individual and collective, each and everyone of us having a part to play. While encouraging initiatives are delivering results, there is much more to be done Read More Here: https://lnkd.in/gXvPBakt Stéphane Parrenin Scott Carson Brad Leonard Jodie Murray Phil Gray

Air New Zealand becomes the first major airline to pull back on emissions targets (So the kiwi's come to their senses after all) Air New Zealand said it pulled 2030 carbon emissions reduction targets, due to lags in producing new planes, a lack of alternative fuel, and an overall challenging regulatory and policy settings. "It is possible the airline may need to retain its existing fleet for longer than planned due to global manufacturing and supply chain issues that could potentially slow the introduction of newer, more fuel-efficient aircraft into the fleet," stated Air New Zealand (OTCPK:ANZFF) CEO Greg Foran. Many major airlines committed to a U.N. framework for corporations to stay on track to meet the Paris Agreement on emissions reductions. However, the airline industry has seen major obstacles in trying to reach those targets. https://lnkd.in/gEe2SUff
