A final investment decision on a 100km hydrogen pipeline between France and Germany will be made “very soon”, Sandrine Meunier, CEO of France’s main gas transmission system operator GRTGaz announced at Hyvolution. 📌 Andrea Ciani, Hydrogen Combustion Technology Manager of Ansaldo Energia, attended the last GPPS Forum in Zurich with a presentation on "Hydrogen Combustion in Gas Turbines as a Pathway to Dispatchable CO2-free Power Generation". 💬 In his speech, he dived into the challenges posed by hydrogen combustion and the progress being done in the scientific community to boost its understanding and development. He also underlined the advantages offered by the sequential combustion system, featured by Ansaldo Energia’s GT26 and GT36 gas turbines: as gas turbines will play such a major role in the future energy mix, and in the change-over to renewables, it is of utmost importance to further enhance the efficiency and to reduce the emissions of gas turbine power plants. Today is a big day in scaling up Hydrogen storage for 2030: H2eart for Europe has officially launched, and we are proud to be a part of it! A dynamic consortium of Storage System Operators has come together with a commitment to accelerate the Energy Transition through Underground Hydrogen Storage (UHS). With a shared vision, H2eart for Europe stands as a driving force committed to providing the necessary storage infrastructure. Doug Waters, Managing Director at Uniper Energy Storage, took part in the event in Brussels and stated: “There is an urgency to scale hydrogen storage to be ready for 2030 and show a common pathway on providing a technical and economical solution.” That is why we’ve started with 11 European SSOs and supporting Europe associations to think, design and build this dedicated Alliance. HDF secures Hy2Move funding for fuel cell development. By Edward Laity HDF Energy will receive up to €172m ($183m) to support the development and industrialisation of hydrogen fuel cells at its plant in Blanquefort, France. The grant was received after the European Commission approved French financial support for the project within the framework of the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI). The approval will be a part of the Commission’s Hy2Move initiative and will ensure HDF can industrialise multi-megawatt fuel cells dedicated to heavy maritime and rail mobility, along with electricity production for public power grids. https://lnkd.in/dSsD94tm
