The conflict in Ukraine has shown the extensive use of UAVs, prompting militaries to integrate and counter these capabilities. Key conclusions are: UAVs must be simplified and optimised for specific tasks while balancing cost and reliability, require constant updates to software, sensors, and radios, and need procurement to focus on subsystems. Effective UAV use relies on skilled crews, planning, and integration with artillery, electronic warfare, and air defense, necessitating specialist formations. Current regulations hinder UAV effectiveness, so NATO countries should streamline regulations. Forces must be prepared to counter UAV threats to maintain situational awareness and precision. #UAV #MilitaryTech #PrecisionStrike #DefenseInnovation #UkraineConflict #MilitaryIntegration #EWarfare #ArtillerySupport #NATOPolicy #SituationalAwareness
How can UAVs best support land forces? A new paper published by Jack Watling and Professor Justin Bronk with the Royal United Services Institute and The Wilson Center offers a comprehensive analysis of this question with fresh content and tactics, and learnings from Ukraine. An authority on the use of drones in the Ukraine conflict and their design and manufacture, our CEO Mike Dewhirst was invited to peer review the paper. Starting now, we've got you covered: no more fishing required. In collaboration with Prof-Worx, we're here to deliver the finest fish directly to you. No more hunting! I've spent several evenings conducting hybrid tactical LED tests designed for both indoor and outdoor use. These LEDs are not just versatile, with the capability to illuminate vast spaces such as halls or garages with a wide angle yet intense beam, but they're also optimized for aerial operations. After evaluating six different LEDs, I've pinpointed the optimal balance of brightness, weight, and flight endurance. These selected LEDs come with an internal battery, and we're in the process of custom-designing mounts to seamlessly integrate with the Avata or other UAVs. Although we're still fine-tuning in the testing phase, the potential applications are incredibly promising. #dji #djiavata #avata #uas #uav #tacticaltraining #tacticalgear #tacticaluas #tacticaluav #dronesforgood #innovation #lawenforcement #swat #publicsafety #firstresponders #indoor #fpv #defensie #military #SF #specialforces #specialoperations #firefighter #firefighters #bomberos #bombas #pompier

⚡🌟🛸Unlocking the Future: The Hypersonic Marvel of Lockheed Martin’s SR-72 ‘Darkstar🛸🌟⚡ 🌟Brief Description and it's unique features: The SR-72 is an advanced hypersonic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. It is intended to succeed the SR-71 Blackbird, known for its speed and reconnaissance capabilities. ⚡Unique Features 1. Hypersonic Speed: The SR-72 is expected to reach speeds of Mach 6 (over 6,400 kilometers per hour), making it twice as fast as the SR-71. 2. Advanced Propulsion: It utilizes a combined cycle engine, integrating a traditional jet engine with a scramjet to achieve hypersonic speeds. 3. Stealth Capabilities: The design incorporates advanced stealth technology to evade detection by radar and other tracking systems. 4. ISR Capabilities: The primary role of the SR-72 is to gather intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance data at unprecedented speeds, allowing for rapid response and decision-making. 5. Potential Strike Capabilities: There are speculations that the SR-72 could also be equipped with precision-guided munitions, enabling it to perform strike missions. 6. Development Timeline: The project has been in development since 2013, with the first flight of a demonstrator initially planned for 2023. 7. Collaboration: Lockheed Martin is collaborating with Aerojet Rocketdyne on the SR-72 project, focusing on hypersonic propulsion systems. 8. Cultural Impact: The SR-72 gained significant attention after being featured as a concept in the movie "Top Gun: Maverick," although the film's version is fictional. ⚡🛸🌟These features highlight the SR-72's potential to revolutionize aerial reconnaissance and strike capabilities. The project remains highly secretive, fueling ongoing fascination and speculation. #SR72Darkstar #HypersonicUAV #LockheedMartin #AerospaceInnovation #StealthTechnology #FutureOfFlight #AerialReconnaissance #AdvancedPropulsion #NextGenAviation #LockheedMartin

A Pakistani defense conglomerate has unveiled its latest drone, the Ranger, at the World Defense Show, running Feb. 4-8 in Saudi Arabia. Global Industrial Defence Solutions describes the Ranger as a runway-independent tactical UAV. It was designed for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions, as well as for an artillery fire correction role. Its multi-sensor gimbal payload incorporates a high-definition, electro-optical, medium-wave infrared sensor, and its laser range finder allows it to carry out daytime and nighttime operations. Its line-of-sight control is 100 kilometers (62 miles). GIDS touts the drone as able to operate autonomously with artificial intelligence-enabled payloads. Four small rotors provide vertical lift, while a larger pusher rotor delivering forward propulsion. #defenseindustry #drones #uav #uavs #isr #defensetechnology

Citation: Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has led to the extensive employment of UAVs to deliver precision effects at scale. Militaries observing the conflict are assessing how they can integrate these capabilities into their own forces and mitigate the threat from them. This paper is the first in a series. It examines how UAVs offer the most utility to land forces; subsequent papers will consider counter-UAV methodologies and their role across the joint force.

MQ-9 is a pretty expensive attritable asset.
𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 | 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿 | 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻 | 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 | 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
So another MQ-9 has reportedly been shot down over Yemen, the fourth since November. IMHO the Defense UAS problem is really quite simple, if your system cannot be considered "survivable" then you need to consider it attritable. The days of pattern of life monitoring for 24 hours before an operation using an undefended MALE are well and truly over. We havent even seen the start of the proliferation of UAS designed as Kinetic C-UAS, once that happens this whole thing is going to get even more ugly. My 2 cents for those willing to listen, invest in survivable exquisite platforms and lots and lots of attritable systems. Undefended systems operating between 5-15k feet at 80kts with an EO/IR turret are not going to last long in any current or future conflict. #UAS #REAPER #UAV #Militaryaviation #YEMEN #Futurewars
