Happy March - and International Women's month!
In the video below that Virgin Galactic provides following all their #spaceflight and for every passenger/astronaut on the Eve/Unity spacecrafts, here is one of Lina Borozdina, who become astronaut 023 with VG in January 2024.
Lina, a Ukrainian/American, says, "[the Earth] doesn't have borders, doesn't have countries, just one blue, fragile planet, with no conflict, nothing".
Lina is also a breast cancer survivor and says that going to space drove her to heal and make her childhood dream come true.
A scientist, a women who grew up "behind the iron curtain", Lina has a message to young women: "Don't let anyone tell you that you cannot achieve something."
Virgin says it will have one more spaceflight in the 2nd quarter of this year, and then wait for the next-generation spaceplane, Delta, to start flying again, but the inspiration that it brought to all those who flew, who followed these flights or watched in person (as I was lucky to have), going to space is a dream for many - and then, it leaves those who have done it in awe of the experience, and of seeing the Earth from space: Overview Effect.
After my experience of being there at Spaceport America and watching a spaceflight in person, I wrote this piece called: "Women (And Diversity) in the Space Sector", and how seeing so many women play different roles for each spaceflight was so inspiring to see (article in comment).
Excited to see what comes next in this industry!
