As J.D. says, this is hands down the best Highway Engineering Technology conference. You need to be there if you are dealing with anything from CADD to UAS to Asset Management and beyond.
Looking forward to attending IHEEP 2024 this year, this conference is hands down the best one I attend every year! As a member of the HEEP UAS Planning Committee, this years UAS portion of the conference is shaping up to be a great week. Last year we had 26 DOT's represented on the UAS side and a total of 40 DOT's overall. You also have the opportunity to meet with some of the best vendors in the industry, see the latest technology, and network with colleagues. Please see tentative UAS agenda below: Sept. 15: UAS Vendor Flights/Data Collection, & UAS Demonstrations Sept. 16: General Session, FHWA/FAA UAS Update, & Vendor Hall Sept. 17: DOT/Vendor UAS Presentations/DOT UAS Roundtable Sept. 18: DOT/Vendor UAS Presentations/Vendor UAS Roundtable Sept. 19: UAS Vendor Presentations/Results of Data Collected, Technical Tour https://lnkd.in/gVQvbt6p

🛥️ We are embarking on an increasingly rapid adoption of autonomous vessels. 💡 How can we ensure that technology adoption, regulation and training evolve in parallel to keep operations safe? I’ve had the privilege of joining a roundtable facilitated by the team at SeaBot Maritime at HMNB Portsmouth this afternoon. So much to think about, and it was great to hear the varied and pertinent viewpoints around the room as tests, trials and demonstrations begin to extend capability and start the progression to Autonomy becoming widely adopted. This is essential for defence, for national security, and to enable the continued volume of trade that travels by sea. Many challenges to overcome - but a positive step. #PTBK #EmbraceTheDarkSide #MaritimeEnterpriseEngagement

Did you know that Andøya Space is not only about rockets going to space? In 2021, Andøya Space acquired a Diamond DA62 MPP for scientific research, technology demonstrations, maritime surveillance, and various other types of missions. On International Pilots’ Day, we celebrate the crew operating the aircraft in the skies around Andøya. Dag Helge Karlsen at Andøya Space explains: ‘It can accommodate four people on board: two pilots for flying the aircraft and two mission specialists who operate the equipment and instruments used for research or testing.’ Learn more about the aircraft and its services here: https://lnkd.in/dG_4ngt3

Only 10 days left to submit your package to the 2024 I/ITSEC Next Big Thing AI Showcase! The recent proliferation of Artificial Intelligence (#AI) has created new possibilities for training data analysis, assessment, and adaptive learning. Combined with advances in cognitive science, AI enables sophisticated intelligent tutoring, the generation of tailored training content, and improved fidelity in training support agents. These capabilities form critical pillars for adaptive and personalized learning that can improve the ability of organizations to meet training requirements and develop technologies and strategies for using limited time and resources to meet the specific needs of individual #military personnel and varying team structures. The 2024 #IITSEC conference in #Orlando in December will be the location for the annual Next Big Thing initiative. This smaller, more intimate event will provide a focused showcase of cutting-edge #technologies (i.e., tools and methods) that leverage AI techniques applied specifically to military-centric use cases. The outcomes of this interactive event will assist in informing a Technical Proposal for a formal Research Task Group examining AI applied to Military learning domains. Government, academic, and industry labs are invited to participate in this technology showcase. The I/ITSEC Next Big Thing Committee will select proposals based upon relevance to an Exploratory Team’s goals and expected interest to the I/ITSEC community. They are looking for military relevant demonstrations that link adaptive learning functions and services across distributed, immersive, and live #training and #education contexts. To be considered for participation, complete the form in the link below below by 11:59 PM EDT of Friday, July 26. If you have questions, please contact this year’s Showcase Chairs: Benjamin Goldberg (benjamin.s.goldberg.civ@army.mil) and Diana Teel (diana.c.teel.civ@us.navy.mil) For more information and to access the application form: https://lnkd.in/gEybF3Xg Air Force Agency for Modeling & Simulation (AFAMS) Team Orlando

The Dragons Den in the MAGPIE project was a great method to have the demo and tool leads present themselves! 🔎 And to look beyond the demo implementation and tool development towards scaling! 📋 The Dragons from the involved ports - Port of Rotterdam, HAROPA PORT, DeltaPort GmbH & Co. KG, APS - Administração dos Portos de Sines e do Algarve, S.A. and EFIP (European Federation of Inland Ports) - did an amazing job 💡 Questions on the technologies, the business case, the link to different contexts and when implementation could already start Great to host the session & work towards a Handbook that capture the lessons learned on the demo's and tools
[🎬 Aftermovie] the MAGPIE project has simulated its own Dragon’s Den and the demonstration “GHG Tooling” developed by TNO has 🏆 won the game On the 15th February in Rotterdam, our consortium has had the pleasure to meet up and to play an innovative game: the “Dragon’s Den”. Inspired by the popular TV show, our 10 demonstrations and 3 digital tools have been introduced to a jury of ports. The most concrete, innovative and attractive for the market have been elected and congratulated. The “GHG Tooling” led by TNO, the “Autonomous e-truck” led by DAF Trucks NV and the “Hybrid shunting locomotive” led by Port of Rotterdam and ProRail have been awarded with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The objective of this serious gaming was to reflect on the market adaptation of our demonstrators. Asking our technical partners to think about their work from a different angle was a very relevant exercise. Discover some images of this exciting day by watching our aftermovie. #GreenDeal #GreenTransport #Energy #Horizon2020 (The MAGPIE project is funded by the European Union)

“Why do they always demonstrate how to put a seatbelt on before every flight? It’s common sense.” A family member asked me this years ago and the topic has bothered me ever since. Of course, safety demonstrations are necessary for passengers who’ve never flown before, but what purpose do they serve to frequent flyers? Similarly, awareness campaigns are crucial when trying to build your audience, but what purpose do they serve to your current customers? I took a nosedive ✈ into the intersection between aviation, psychology, and marketing, and came up with a few correlations. I learned that psychology plays a big role in aviation, from airport design to in-flight safety cards (check out https://lnkd.in/da9B6GTw by Stephanie Lucas!). Let me know what you think!
