Let's talk experience… Have you or someone you know found themselves stuck in the relentless loop of needing work but facing rejection due to a lack of experience, only to find this cycle repeating itself again and again and again? This recurrent dilemma is a story shared by many, particularly those venturing into the industry. It's one of the driving forces behind the inception of StirSec - Stirling Security Recruitment After concluding my journey with the Royal Marines Commandos in 2018, I ventured into the world of UHNWI clients in the yachting sector, specialising in personal training and close protection. However, upon completing my CP course alongside oppos from the Royal Marines, Paras and SF Units, I witnessed a recurring struggle: seasoned professionals grappling to secure their initial roles in the security industry despite commendable operational backgrounds and being hoofing lads. Now, the persistent question lingers: How does one gain the requisite experience when doors seem shut to those without a proven track record? Could the industry consider an apprenticeship model, providing mentorship to guidance to new security professionals toward becoming adept and proficient individuals? This concept, reminiscent of military training, has the potential to foster a cadre of educated and disciplined security professionals, perpetuating growth and continuous learning. Investments in CP courses often come with promises of substantial returns, only to leave individuals stranded with no work or offered positions with minimal wages. It's a cycle that repeats itself. Can it be disrupted? Should it be disrupted? And how do we catalyse change? So, the recruitment question again: How does one get work that requires experience, when you can't get experience because you can't get the work to gain the experience to get the work? Let's delve deeper into this conversation. The cycle repeats, and breaking it requires collective effort. I was deeply fortunate to be given the opportunity of being accepted in the Air Traffic Management Safety Investigation and Analysis Course of the Singapore Aviation Academy. (In the process of words failing me and me trying to summarise all I need to say without saying too much) I tried my best to embrace all the concepts and teachings the dearest Dr. Lowe and Dr. Hayward were endeavouring to convey and I plan on implementing them in my work - and again I feel proud and honoured to say I have already started my tiny steps. I will forever cherish this opportunity, memory and knowledge (and I am already looking forward to future ones). I shall also thank #ICAO and #CAAS for creating these tremendous chances and stepping toward educational justice as someone who's been allowed to take part in them. Another thing I learned is that there is so much more out there that I need to know (and I pray that I wouldn't want to hide myself from the rest of the world when I see this in the future, but I really want to say the rabbit is still at the very beginning of the Wonderland, I still need to follow it) What I learned: - Adding Organisation to SHELL and turning it into SHEL/O - Organising Contributing Factors based on SOAM - The importance of Just Culture in any Organisation/Entity - The importance of Predicting and Paying Attention to the not so significant matters, for they may pose great risks to the safety - The downfall of Blame Culture and the importance of playing a role in erasing it - The fragility of memory and the importance of not guiding investigations based on personal guts/experiences/feelings Chain of Events is such a nice phrase but when something happens we tend to forget about it, but the truth is there always is a story to an accident or incident or a mishap. "An error doesn't make an accident" "Humans will always make mistakes and they are our most valuable barriers" There is so much more to say but I think this is precise enough for now.

The FAA announced in November 2023 (https://lnkd.in/gResnVN4) that graduates from Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) programs will bypass initial qualification training at the FAA Academy in OKC and enter directly into field facility training. I have eight broad questions about how this initiative will be implemented. Here is question 2. Question 2: How placed? How will placement work? How will graduates (from eligible AT-CTI programs) be matched with facilities, or at the very least, type of facility (tower cab, up/down tower, stand-alone TRACON, or ARTCC)? When will the placement process start relative to the hiring process? What input will the (prospective?) graduate have on placement (will they have a choice)? What criteria will the FAA use to determine which facilities should receive direct placements from AT-CTI programs?
