As filmmakers, musicians, and creatives we are all part of a marketing pipeline.
I think we shouldn't forget this.
Thus, we should remember that profit and revenue matter.
It helps us grow to reinvest into our brands and the companies we build.
It is a tool that can help us expand on our capabilites and craft.
This is an important thing that you and I should remember.
As growing professionals sometimes I feel we can fall short on this.
It's OK.
However, we need to be more focused on the goal and remember that finances are critical to us flourishing.

We're delighted to be working closely this year with superstar Production Manager Sinéad Owens throughout her ACES award from Arts Council of Northern Ireland to mentor and help with her professional development!
We asked Sinéad a few questions about what it's like to work as a production manager and here's what she said:
Q. Sum up being a production manager in 3 words.
A. "When you Google this you’ll see things like “responsible for all” or “oversees the production” but I think “facilitates the creation”
Q. What is the best part of your job?
A. "For me the best part of the job is being there for every step of the process. That someone can have a beautiful idea and I can make it happen...Seeing everyone’s ideas flow from the first production meeting to the read through to the rehearsals through tech and then opening is something quite magical."
Q. What advice would you give to up-and-coming stage/production managers?
A. "I think the best advice is to not be fooled into thinking this is an easy job...The more you care about the production the more rewarding it will be. And on many occasions it’s an extremely rewarding job. But always to look after your own mental and physical health. This job isn’t easy so you have to be resilient and strong in yourself."

This #Manningfest video from Omaha Productions is brilliant and a reminder of the shared experience that can be found between #sports and #theater.
A little story should you care to keep reading: A few months ago I found myself in conversation with a college football player whose career had just come to an end due to injury and was trying to figure out what to do now that his dreams had been 'ruined.' I suggested to him it was a new beginning, not an ending - that perhaps he could find a way to funnel that passion into something else yet still in the same field. I related it to my experience with theater and my early pivot away from acting to administration, and the interesting journey I've had since. He was skeptical of the comparison at first due to preconceived notions about theater until I said, "Have you ever actually been in a theater?" He admitted he had not, and conceded the point I was making of staying open-minded. Within a relatively short amount of time, he got a summer job as a trainer at a football camp and is now well on his way to a career in coaching and training. He loves it, and it makes me so happy to see him happy, and we stay in touch regularly.
Like a sports game, theater gets so much of its magic and energy from the power of the audience/fans...and like an athlete, actors rely heavily on their bodies to perform, and are constantly in training mode. If we want to go real deep, both are capable of bring about a 'cathartic experience.'
Theater tends to remain in a more insular bubble compared to sports - which is a whole other conversation - but which is why I adore this video and its appeal to the masses. It is a strong reminder of how we can find commonality and opportunity if we just remain observant and willing to keep an open mind.
