June 2 is National Cancer Survivors Day, a day to recognize cancer survivors, to raise awareness of the ongoing challenges they face, and – most importantly – to celebrate life. At JaxBio, we understand that the journey doesn’t end when the disease is in remission. For many survivors, the fear of cancer returning lingers, even when there's no evidence of disease. Continuous monitoring is crucial, yet it often involves regular PET CT scans, which are high in radiation, and invasive biopsies. We aim to revolutionize the diagnostic space for the millions of cancer patients and survivors worldwide. Our focus is on early detection and continuous monitoring through what we call 'companion diagnostics.' This approach seeks to provide faster, non-invasive, and more accurate results. We strive to make the journey a little easier and bring cancer patients and survivors peace of mind. #NCSD2024

A must-listen featuring Dr. William Dahut, Chief Scientific Officer of the American Cancer Society. 🎧 Tune in below for a breakdown of the latest Cancer Facts & Figures report wherein Dr. Dahut highlights two key takeaways for employers: 1. It’s critical to normalize cancer screenings and expand access to screenings within your org. 2. With increased incidences of cancer in younger populations, it’s important to message to younger employees about taking non-specific symptoms seriously and understanding their unique risks for cancer. ⤵
The American Cancer Society’s report, Cancer Facts & Figures, is an annual touchstone to understand where we are in the fight against cancer. In this episode of the Business Group on Health podcast, we dig into the 2024 report with Dr. William Dahut, Chief Scientific Officer at the American Cancer Society, who explains the good news, like the reduction in overall cancer mortality; alongside the bad news, that a record two million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year; and the reasons why. https://okt.to/mgNJu6

Appreciate President Biden emphasizing the goal of "ending cancer as we know it" last night during the State of the Union. A critical step needed to improve from the current 33% cancer mortality reduction we've achieved since 1991 to the Cancer Moonshot goal of 50% decline in the next 25 years is the rapid uptake of cancer patient navigation services. Supporting the growth of national and global infrastructure for cancer patient navigation is a core strategy of the American Cancer Society and an area we will continue to invest and lead in with our amazing partners within the American Cancer Society National Navigation Roundtable (ACS NNRT). Recently I sat down with Kathy Giusti, author of "Fatal to Fearless: 12 Steps to Beating Cancer in a Broken Medical System" to discuss navigation, and specifically our 4-domain approach at ACS to span the types of navigation a person facing cancer and their caregiver might need. Such an approach meets people where they are, providing the best type of personalized support, how and when they need it.

October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. In the United States, outside of skin cancer, #breastcancer is the most common cancer in women. About one in eight (12% of) women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. According to the American Cancer Society, over 310,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer (classified as stage 1 or later) will be diagnosed in the U.S. in 2024. Another 56,500 cases of stage 0 (non-invasive) breast cancer will also occur. At Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS), we are proud to have a hand in the many innovations in #breastcancertreatment. Through our robust, nationally recognized clinical research program, we are helping to move the needle in finding better therapies and care procedures for patients. These advances include #genetictesting, #immunotherapies and other #targetedtherapies. This Breast Cancer Awareness Month (and year-round), we stand with breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers in the fight against this disease. 💗 To learn more about how we are revolutionizing breast cancer care, visit https://lnkd.in/eE38nmrc. #breastcancerawareness #hope #clinicaltrials #cancerresearch

Black Women and Breast Cancer: Why Disparities Persist and How to End Them In the United States, breast cancer continues to be the most common cancer after non-melanoma skin cancer, and it is the second leading cause of cancer death. In 2023, the American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates that more than 300,590 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 55,720 new cases of ductal carcinoma in situ/stage 0 breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the United States. While there has been an overall 43 percent decline in breast cancer deaths over the last three decades—thanks to gains in awareness, earlier diagnoses, and more effective treatments—there is a persistent mortality gap between Black women and white women. Frank Catania, the muscle of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, isn’t just tough on the outside—he’s serious about protecting what’s inside, too. That’s why he’s teamed up with Maimonides to get the word out about the importance of colon cancer screening. At Maimonides, our Colon Cancer Screening Program offers top-tier, patient-centered care in a state-of-the-art environment. We know that a colonoscopy isn’t anyone’s favorite pastime, but it’s one of the most effective ways to catch colorectal cancer early. In fact, it can even help prevent cancer by allowing doctors to find and remove polyps before they become a problem. Did you know? The American Cancer Society recommends that most people start screening at age 45, with follow-ups every 10 years. If you’re at higher risk, you might need to start earlier or get screened more often. Schedule your screening today by calling (718) 283-5900. #ColonCancerAwareness #ScreenWithMaimo #TeamMaimo

Headline: American Society of Clinical Oncology and American Cancer Society Announce New Collaboration I'm really excited to announce our collaboration with the American Cancer Society to bring patients and families everywhere the most up-to-date, highest quality information that will be useful for them in their journey with and through cancer. ASCO and the American Cancer Society have long shared a commitment to empowering people with information about cancer that they can trust. Together, we're collaborating to advance that goal by sharing what we do best: content on our patient and consumer education websites, Cancer.Net and Cancer.org. By sharing our content from ASCO and the ACS, we want patients and families to easily find trusted, expert-approved content, no matter which website they turn to. I could not be more excited and delighted about this collaboration. It's been a natural extension of what our organizations strive to do, which is to increase understanding of cancer prevention, cancer screening, cancer treatment, and cancer survivorship. #asco #acs #collaboration #oncologyresearch #cancerawareness #healthcarecollaboration #cancercare #cancerresearch
