D is for Depth Perception
Depth perception is a crucial visual perceptual skill that plays a pivotal role in our ability to perceive and interact with the world around us. It allows us to accurately judge the distances between objects and to understand the spatial relationships between them. One requires depth perception on daily tasks such as writing, driving, and walking.
People with impaired depth perception may struggle with tasks that require precise hand-eye coordination, such as handwriting or using utensils effectively. Additionally, compromised depth perception can pose safety risks in activities like driving, as it affects the ability to gauge distances between vehicles and obstacles. Even walking can become challenging, with potential for misjudging curbs, steps, or uneven surfaces.
To improve depth perception skills, we recommend engaging in activities like obstacle courses. Whether set up indoors or outdoors, these courses can be adapted to a person's needs and preferences. Encouraging them to participate in the setup not only adds a fun and sensory-rich dimension to the therapy, but also enhances their sense of ownership and motivation for the process.
Do you have a good sense of depth perception? Let us know in the comments!

Our second-year Master’s students started their Master’s projects last week with a seminar. This will be their last project before they graduate from Design School Kolding, and it will consist of a design, a written assignment, and an oral exam. In the Master’s project, the student is able to put their entire professional expertise in play. Knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired through the specialization are demonstrated in the solution of a self-initiated, well-defined and delimited design-professional problem in collaboration with one or more external partners.
The Master’s project is the student’s framework to demonstrate their own design-professional potential in a relevant design project 🙌
Industrial design student Lotte Rahbek, focusing on Design for Play, gives us insight into her project:
“For my exam project, I will be tasked with designing a new solution for the user test setup at the LEGO Group®️. Utilizing Designerly methods such as Design Thinking and Empowering Changes, I aim to optimize the current test setup for various aspects like concepts, products, and experiences. Throughout the project, I'll consider how the recommended solution can be scaled sustainably within the company. I'll challenge the existing structure to explore new possibilities within the testing setup and demonstrate the application of a Play Designer's expertise in novel areas of the value chain.”
Over the next months, we will share more updates on various Master’s Projects from different students. We wish our master’s students the best of luck and most of all a lot of fun the coming half year! 🫶

"Learning never exhausts the mind." At Chetana, we firmly believe in this philosophy, which is why we consistently conduct small workshops and in-house training sessions to keep our team engaged and curious. These initiatives not only foster team building but also significantly enhance our productivity.
Recently, we organized a workshop tailored for our talented production team, including designers and DTP operators, with the aim of enhancing creativity and delving into the depths of design thinking. Embracing a more unconventional approach, we eschewed chairs in favor of sitting in a circle on mats, fostering a conducive environment for discussions and practical learning sessions.
Here are some key insights from the workshop:
Design Thinking 🤔: We engaged in various small activities focused on comparing and analysing layouts and colour palettes for different designs. These exercises provided invaluable insights into the intricacies of design thinking.
Group Discussions 👨👨👧👦 : Healthy and vibrant discussions took place, centring the processes and techniques employed in design. We explored strategies for understanding designs tailored to different age groups, enriching our collective understanding.
Pehchan kya? (Do you recognize?)👀 : This engaging activity prompted team members to identify their likes and dislikes, as well as elements they found unreasonable, within a given book. It sparked diverse creative opinions and perspectives among participants.
This two-hour workshop marked a significant stride towards fostering creativity and productivity within our team. We eagerly anticipate organizing more such activities and workshops in the future, as we continue to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and growth at #Chetana.

when doing something for a while your experience in that thing increases and you develop ways of improving it.
back of the art canvas l had changed to an industrial fitting.
my own opinion it looks tidy and more professional.
I share this because not to often you have the opportunity to see a art canvas backing just the front surface on a gallery wall display.

Cheers to the first HBHS Business and Design Masterclass! 🎉 From sewing to slime-making (pictured below), to photography to nail art, we explored a plethora of talents and skills. But it wasn't all smooth sailing - with no-shows, odd group sizes, and tight schedules, we faced our fair share of challenges. Special shoutout to Allie Conne for helping me tackle those tricky logistics!
Challenges:
-2 people didn't show up
-Odd number of participants for group activities
-Limited time constraints
Solutions:
-Added an individual to groups with shorter instruction material
-Split up groups for a variety of talents and experiences
This was such an incredible experience and I want to give a huge thanks to all the contributors and the amazing team who made it happen. Here's to conquering obstacles and embracing learning adventures! 🌟 #Masterclass#ProblemSolving#Teamwork#Innovation
