It’s great to see more healthcare leaders stepping up to prioritise mental health. I love the fact they're looking at the whole picture, connecting mental and physical health care. It's all about making sure everyone gets the support they need, not just individuals but their families too. This approach is about being kinder, more understanding, and making sure everyone can get the help they need without feeling judged. #MentalHealthMatters #CompassionateCare #FamilySupport

Advocate for equity and equal treatment of all. Passionate about mental health and wellness. Experienced in Governance and Leadership.
Last week I had the honour to attend the First Responders Mental Health Conference hosted by Trillium Health Partners and Wounded Warriors Canada. It was an amazing opportunity to connect with people, share best practices, and here stories of healing, resilience, and evidence based practices. One of the conversations that I was able to engage in was around, what does mental health support look like in an organization. One of the things that needs to be highlighted is the proactive approaches and options that are non-clinical. How do you enable your employees to destress outside of work and what benefits/opportunities do you provide for this to occur? Taking care of one’s mental health looks different. Do people in your organization take care of their mental health by: being with their families? getting a restful sleep? going for a bike ride? seeing a counsellor? It’s important to remember that benefit plans don’t always fit in a nice box. Health and wellness needs to be proactive and not just reactive. #mentalhealth #leadership #health #wellness

At the forefront of modern health care, leaders strive for a unified mental health system, grappling with the persistent challenges of substance use disorders, suicide, and serious mental illness. How do organizations measure and enhance mental well-being? It’s a question with profound implications and significant challenges, but it demands executives’ attention, leaders said. In a world where individuals routinely monitor their physical health through scales and devices, it’s striking there’s not a similar tool for mental health. Organizations have the knowledge necessary to build such tools. “Health care leaders have identified several key indicators that hold potential for quantifying mental health. Pain, isolation, social connectedness—these are just some of the subtle indicators that can provide early insights into one’s mental health. The quest for innovative measurement techniques has begun. While there may be no established tool akin to a scale for measuring mental health, we’ve made strides at assessing risk and intervening before a crisis. #mentalhealth #healthcare #sdoh https://lnkd.in/eWTEMT-j
